Vehicle Detail

1973 Round wheel arch Midget with a front flip bugeye front end. This car has had lots of time money and parts during it's restoration. It began it's life as a 1973 Midget when the origional owner really wanted a bugeye. So he spent big bucks converting it. It has had the doors customized and windows removed. The front fenders and hood were replaced with a quality fiberglass bugeye front end. A front tilt kit was added to make access to the engine easy. The Good: The car was rust free before this process began so very little body work was needed except for the custom doors. It then received a very nice red paint job. The car had only 61,000 miles on it when while driving it the owner overheated the engine. He brought it to British Car Service in Powhatan Va. The car received a new clutch, engine replaced with another 1275 which has great oil pressure and performance. I have a picture of the car at 2800 rpm and 60 psi at 165 degrees. It idles at 1000 rpm at 40 psi while hot. The carbs were rebuilt. Radiator flushed. A new battery was added. It has new wheels and tires and all the gauges work. Front end is very tight and it handles and shifts well. It also downshifts well with no issues. The convertible top appears to be new and tight. All lights work. Brakes are good. The Not so goods: The car has a few blemishes. There is a small dent on the passenger side door post near the bottom the size of a tennis ball - not very deep or noticable (pictured). Also there are two scrapes on the top of the door posts on each side where it looks like someone did this while trying to fit the newly painted front end (pictured) a few inches long. No heater or radio but easy to add. I am selling this car for a friend who does not like computers. Call Jim at 804-598-2511 if you have questions. I drove the car today and it drives exceptionally well. It can be driven anywhere, however, it does not have windows so you would need to adapt sidecurtains to the car which would not be difficult to do. If you are familiar with "wind wings" they may be the answer to pack a pair when you come to pick it up if you want to drive it home. This car represents the classic features of the Mk 1 sprite with the comfort and ability to cruise at highway speeds of the later midgets. Not to mention a trunk. You would spend over $10,000 trying to reproduce this car if you could find a completely rust free 73 round wheel arch midget body to begin with. A little touch up on the scratches and clean the carpet and this car would make you proud while enjoying the wind in your hair this summer! Caution if you have no feedback don't bother bidding unless you clear it with Jim. Scammers don't bother as funds will have to clear before it can be picked up and no out of country shipping.
