Classic 1966 Corvair Corsa NO RESERVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This car is in excellent running condition. Needs paint and some interior work. Seller is moving and needs to move this car. Here are some comments about the Corvair Corsa "And it is here too, that we have to go on record and say that the Corvair is - in our opinion - the most important new car of the entire crop of '65 models, and the most beautiful car to appear in this country since before World War II. When the pictures of the '65 Corvair arrived in our offices, the man who opened the envelope actually let out a great shout of delight and amazement on first seeing the car, and in thirty seconds the whole staff was charging around, each wanting to be the first to show somebody else, each wanting the vicarious kick of hearing that characteristic war-whoop from the first-time viewer. Our ardor had cooled a little by the time we got to drive the cars - then we went nuts all over again. The new rear suspension, the new softer spring rates in front, the bigger brakes, the addition of some more horsepower, all these factors had us driving around like idiots - zooming around the handling loop dragging with each other, standing on the brakes - until we had to reluctantly turn the car over to some other impatient journalist. We were actually annoyed about having to drive the new Sting Ray and the new Impala SS with a great, storming 409 to propel it. We said we'd give you a comparative opinion, and there it is. We liked both the Mustang and the Barracuda - for different reasons - and they're very good cars. They have speed and handling and they're the right size - excepting the Corvairs, they're the best of their kind. The '65 Corvair is an outstanding car. It doesn't go fast enough, but we love it." David E. Davis Jr., Car and Driver, October, 1964 The top-of-the-line Corsa was easily identified by its Argent Silver cove area and the bright grill inserts below the rear bumper, as well as Corsa emblems on the sides. During the '65 model year, the Corsa had a contrasting pin-stripe running around the nose to the rear cove area on each side, positioned just below the belt-line (absent on the example at right). Bumper guards and wire wheel covers were optional. All 1965 Corvairs were equipped with 164 cubic inch, horizontally opposed, air-cooled, 6 cylinder alloy engines. Horsepower ratings ranged from 95 to 140 in the Corvair 500 and Monza models, and 140 or 180 in the Corsa series. The dual exhaust on the Regal Red convertible gives it away as a 140 horsepower car. The 140 HP base Corsa engine featured four single-barrel Rochester carburetors with progressive mechanical linkage which began opening the throttle blades of secondary carburetors (the "wild ones") at about 3/4 pedal travel. The engine also made use of higher compression pistons, and special cylinder heads with special intake runners, larger valves, a dual snorkel air cleaner and dual exhaust. Turbochargers were rare in the Sixties. In fact, the Corvair was one of two North American production cars to use one in the 1962 model year, with GM's Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire being the other. The turbocharged '65 Corsa engine developed 30 horsepower more than its turbocharged 1962 Monza Spyder sibling. On May-26-10 at 09:02:13 PDT, seller added the following information:Due to the incredible interest in this car I have added more pictures. Here are the answers to FAQ 1. the car is in PERFECT mechanical condition (new breaks, tires, tune) has just not been used in 2 years (started and run around the block but thats it) it leaks a little oil (common for corvairs) 2. Needs to be sanded well and painted. 3. needs repairs to seat cover and new carpet. 4. All interior stuff works. On May-28-10 at 23:46:56 PDT, seller added the following information: JUST TO BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR......THIS CAR HAS SOME RUST, IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES YOU CAN SEE IT ON THE DOOR TRIM LINES, AROUND THE WINDOW SEATS, ON THE LOWER REAR PANEL MUD SPLASH, ON THE TRUNK HOOD (SEE PICTURES). IF YOU WANT A PERFECT CAR THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANY WORK ON PAY 10,000 $ FOR ONE THIS IS NOT THE CAR. IF YOU WANT ONE THAT RUNS GREAT, HAS A STRAIT BODY BUT NEEDS PAINT, BODY AND UPHOLSTERY WORK THIS IS THE CAR FOR YOU. THERE WAS ANOTHER CORSA ON EBAY THAT DID NOT RUN, BASICALLY A SALVAGE CAR THAT WAS RUSTED THROUGH (BASED ON THE PICTURES) THE GUY WANTED 2500 FOR IT. I AM TRYING TO GIVE SOMEBODY A CHANCE TO GET A GOOD CAR AT A REASONABLE PRICE SO THEY CAN MAKE IT LOOK NEW AGAIN.
