Vehicle Detail
1976 BMW 2002, 4 speed, sunroof, Sienabraun LOCATED IN RALEIGH, NC 27606 (MUST BE PICKED UP BY THURSDAY MAY 27TH) I purchased this car from the original owner in Sacramento CA 4 years ago. When I moved back to North Carolina I had it professionally transported. Moving to Michigan at the end of the month forces sale. I removed all of the CA smog equipment when I moved to NC but I have it all in a box that goes with the car. This car is about as rust-free as an unrestored 2002 gets, some rust on passenger side floor board. Interior is excellent, exterior is fair. This original car runs great and is a blast to drive, shifts well through all gears and most everything works. Does not smoke or burn oil (engine was rebuilt 10 years ago and has less than 20,000 miles on rebuild). Here is a list of upgrades I've made in the 4 years that I've owned: Weber 38/38 carburetor with new Canon intake manifold ( I also have a Weber jetting kit and a spare 32/36 carb that goes with it) New 320i radiator kit New 325i Bosch starter Bosch Blue Coil Tii ignition with Petronix electronic ignition Tii exhaust manifold Alternator polyurethane bushings Battery relocation kit/ rear strut brace New Bosal muffler with new Ansa resonator (Like new Ansa muffler is included but was a little loud for my taste) Bilsteins all around with Eibach lowering springs Polyurethane sway bar bushings New guibo Hella driving lights Nardi wood steering wheel (cost $400+) New carpet kit New sunroof cables and seals (sunroof works perfectly, no leaks) New windshield gasket Cromadora wheels with nearly new Goodyear Integrity's European turn signals Thule roof / bike rack is included (bike in NOT included) KNOWN ISSUES: There is a coolant leak coming from 1 of the freeze plugs behind the engine. It's not profusely leaking but you have add coolant every 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately the engine needs to be pulled to replace the freeze plug. Also, this car could really use to be repainted. The paint is shiny on the sides but faded on the roof, hood and trunk. There is a patch of primer on the hood where the paint blistered up so I sanded it down to bare metal and hit with primer to keep it from rusting. Overall the body is very straight with a small ding here or there but would be an excellent restoration cadidate. Odometer reads 30,000 miles but has quit working. As mentioned previously this car runs and drives great but it's been parked in my garage for the past year and I don't know that I'd go driving 500 miles home necessarily so you may want to bring a car dolly if you're coming from some distance away.
