Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1977 Ford Granada. I bought this car from the original owner in April 1996 with 44,503 miles on it. It was my daily driver until August 1999. Car has basically been in storage since then. Currently the car has 69,560 miles on it. The past 2 summers I have starting driving the car again and added about 400 miles to it. In the past 2 years I've focused mainly on the mechanics of the car, so I have rebuilt the carb, replaced the original fuel pump, replaced some old brake lines, new power steering hoses, new spark plugs and new wires - also has a fresh oil change. The car runs great, just needs to be driven more. List of options/features: 302 V8 C-4 Automatic Transmission A/C Power steering Power brakes Rear Defroster Dual Sport Mirrors Aftermarket CD player w/amp Gabriel High Jackers Adjustable Air Shocks Front disc/rear drum brakes 2.47 rear axle The big issue with the car is cosmetic. Last summer we were in the process of getting it prepped for bodywork/paint and then my dad died and I have since lost interest in this car. So let me start with the worst area -- the driver's side rear quarter. A truck backed into the car and damaged the quarter in 1997. I had to salvage the title because the damage ($950) was worth more than the car ($750). My dad was a body man and we pulled the dent and filled it with mud rather quickly just to get it back on the road (it was my daily driver). After 13 years the mud is cracking and the paint is chipping. You'll notice some primer on the quarter and I've sprayed it in the cracks to keep moisture and anything else away. The driver's side door we just put on. The original door was dented and the skin was busted at the bottom. The new door is from a North Carolina car and it's rather clean. I haven't put the hardware or the panel back on the door on the inside, but I have all that. The door will need some adjusting as it rattles when driving. The rest of the car is solid with no rot or holes. Some surface rust here and there from areas with little paint or just primer. Paint is not in the best of shape especially on the roof, trunk and both rear quarters. The interior of the car is nice. There is a rip in the front seat just on the driver's side seat. The passenger seat is starting to get the same rips, but it's barely noticeable. The rest of the seats are in great shape, no rips or tears. The only change in the interior is the sound system. There is a CD player mounted under the dash and I cut holes in the back panels to add 2 6x9 speakers under the opera windows. Also I have the original floor mats (not pictured). Here are some known issues that I need to point out. The fuel gauge doesn't work. The A/C is low. The rear end jumps when you put it in gear. The exhaust system is loud due to sitting so long and the steering needs to be adjusted a bit. I'll also include in the auction some spare parts I've collected over the years (not pictured). The parts I'll throw in are 4 extra headlight bezels, grille, brain box, 2 brand new rear leaf springs, a few Ford factory radios, extra sport mirror for driver's side, alternator, extra carb complete, new tie-rod ends, new front shocks, random gaskets, weatherstripping and anything else I can find. I also have all the original sales paperwork and receipts from the original owner, also have the original Ohio 1977 license plates. I am selling the car only because I lost interest and need to make room for some of my dad's belongings. Overall I'd say mechanically it's a strong car and shouldn't need much work, but the body and the paint on the car is what needs attention. In 14 years this car has never let me down and was always a dependable ride. Car is available for pickup and e-mail me with questions. Thanks for looking.
