Up for sale is my BEAUTIFUL RX7 Convertible. I am in the unenviable position of having to sell most of my most adored possessions. This vehicle is yet one more of my toys that I am FORCED to sell, and I am most UNHAPPY about it, but that is my sob story and hopefully not yours. At any rate what you see before you is a BEAUTIFUL Mazda RX7. This RX7 is in better condition than ANY I have seen in the last 20 years….and having owned 2 prior to this one, I know what to look for and I look quite often. This is a VERY nice example of Mazda’s famous Rotary Engine Sports Car. THIS IS A ONE OWNER (prior to me) PAMPERED RX7. The original owner was an RX7 FANATIC and he adored this vehicle. I am its second caretaker. This vehicle has every option that was offered in 88’ and was voted Car of The Year in 86’. Let’s see, time to try and describe this vehicle to you… It’s ALL GOOD…honestly…from Bumper to Bumper its just a really nice RX7 Convertible. The Leather Seats are in great shape, as you can see from the photos. The 5sp manual transmission shifts flawlessly and is an absolute joy to shift through the gears. I find myself looking for reasons just to row through the gears while driving because it shifts and drives so damn good…You will see what I mean. Everything works as it was designed to function. The electronic heater/cooling controls work perfectly as does the AC system…The Air Conditioning blows nice and cold…A VERY important feature to have working in the summer….especially in a Black Sports Car! The Rotary engine runs absolutely FLAWLESSLY….there are NO PROBLEMS with it at all, in ANY way. No leaks, no oil consumption, no smoke, no vibrations, all while delivering reliable horsepower and returning 30MPG OR BETTER on the highway!!! This vehicle is in such great shape that I would sell this car to absolutely anyone I know, and that is not always a statement that I am able to make….believe me. This car is simply turn key ready for ANYONE and a very stunning automobile in its own right. It even has less that 100K on the clock!!! That is NOTHING in terms of miles for this vehicle, she’s just getting broken in! The convertible top is simply perfect, no cracks or scratches at all….I don’t know if it was replaced during the cars lifetime, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find that it had been replaced…it is in THAT GOOD of condition. If the top was not replaced then it must be due to this cars pampering and its sleepng in a heated garage...LOL. This top has the desirable GLASS rear window…no vinyl window to get yellow or opaque on you over time...a feature even BMW forgets to employ. Another unique feature of this cars top is that the portion over the driver is actually a HARD top….so you will have no flapping of the roof above your head at ANY speed. I have never seen any other convertible with this feature. The tires have about 80-85% treadlife left in them, so you do not need to worry about the tires at all. The 4 wheel disc brakes have recently been replaced and also stop this LIGHT car WITH FADE FREE AUTHORITY! I LOVE the brakes on this vehicle, and you will too they work very, very well. This RX7 was FACTORY EQUIPPED with the now famous BBS wheel package. These wheels not only enhanced the cars appearance, but they also offered a considerable weight savings over other wheel options. These wheels are RARE and VERY difficult to find in the condition that they are in on this car….they are NEAR PERFECT….still shiny and with little or no scratches on them….it is extremely hard, if not impossible to find these FACTORY BBS wheels in this good of condition on an RX7 Convertible. The 1.3L Rotary Engine starts right up every time and because of this vehicles light weight, you WILL feel every single one of its 150 Horsepower. I know it doesn’t sound like much but in a car this light, you don’t need much more power….THIS CAR IS FAST by anyones measure and it truly handles like a dream! The engine, if you are not familiar with the Rotary (or Wankel) engine is a true functional Masterpiece Of Engineering. It has FAR FEWER moving parts than a conventional piston driven engine….I could go on and on being the gearhead that I am, but I reccommend doing some research on it….it is actually quite amazing. You WILL NOT detect ANY vibration from this engine AT ALL….Even when you rev her ALL the way up the tachometer….she is GLASS smooth. If it werent for the unique sound coming from the dual exhaust pipes, you wouldnt even know she was running. An interesting note...You could take this car out and rev it at 7000RPM’s ALL DAY LONG and the engine would simply ask for more. It LOVES to rev…Its not afraid of high RPM’s…As it was designed from the ground up to REV afterall. Rotary power is ADDICTIVE and like nothing else on the road today. If you havent experienced a Rotary Engine yet, I HIGHLY advise that you do. The modern, Fuel Injected Rotary Engine in this vehicle, is a true masterpiece. You will constantly ask yourself how this car can be so fast with an engine that displaces 1.3 Liters…or…1300cc’s My Motorcycle literally has an Engine with larger displacement than this engine does!!! IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING. The engines smoothness and power delivery will never fail to put a smile on your face, and isn’t that what a Convertible Sports Car is supposed to do? Due to the rotary engines compact design it was actually mounted BEHIND the front axle, making it a very rare “Front Mid-Engine” vehicle. This feature gives this vehicle PERFECT weight distribution. With a ratio of 50% front and 50% rear weight distribution the RX7 has achieved that elusive balance that so many sports cars seek to possess. If you don’t understand any of this, it translates into AWESOME handling. It never fails, every single time I take this car out for a ride I find myself grinning like a crazy person. Its best to come out and get a feel for it yourself, I actually encourage this. One drive and you WILL understand. Mazda went to great lengths to get the handling right in their Halo Sports Car. An interesting feature to mention is that Mazda integrated a speed sensitive power steering system on this vehicle. At slower speeds the power assist is INCREASED allowing effortless turning of the steering wheel….when speed increases the power assist is altered and stiffened up…it then feels more like a Manual or Non Power-Steering system, this translates more of the road feel to your hands…..this is truly an excellent system and works seamlessly. I really don’t know what else to say about this car. It is truly Turn Key Ready. The car is in Excellent condition no matter how you slice it. The Engine, Suspension, Air Conditioning, Exhaust System, Brakes, Cruise Control, Convertible top……ALL OF IT..... is in Great to Excellent condition. I wish I could say it was PERFECT, but alas, it is not…the only things I can point out are a few small door dings and a few paint chips here and there, but nothing major at all and nothing that detracts from the cars overall appearance. I ONLY point them out because, well, I HAVE to….I'm an honest guy and am trying to describe this vehicle to the best of my ability and don’t want any surprises for the new owner. I’m an honest guy, a mechanic and a car FANATIC myself. I always notice items on vehicles with ruthless criticism. I cannot tolerate SO-SO systems on vehicles. If I find issues, I fix them, its that simple. I haven’t found anything needing repair here, which is why I am so confident about the cars integrity. I know that this vehicle will provide the new owner with MANY years of reliable service. She deserves a good home and one preferrably one with a garage, its too nice to leave outside...its been garaged all of its life, so.... This RX7 runs so good in fact that I have no issues with offering a limited warranty on her I will discuss this with the buyer in person. This is just a GREAT RX7 its as simple as that. As you can see I also have the factory Tonneau Cover an aftermarket Car Cover AND I have both a factory Mazda repair manual and a Haynes book that also go with the car.
