Vehicle Detail

1961 Innocenti 950 Spider. For those unfamilar with this car, it is literally an Italian Austin-Healey Sprite as it was built under license, from BMC, in Italy by the Lambretta Motor Company. It utilizes the floor pan, chassis, running gear, engine, transmission, etc. from the period Austin-Healey Sprite onto which a body built by Ghia was constructed and wired with Magnetti-Marelli electrics. These were produced in low numbers and while imported to the United States, very few have survived. There are reportedly only approximately 30 in North America and this includes both the 950 and S versions. It is wider, longer and more modern than it's British counterpart and sported a padded dash, curved windshield, roll-up windows, and other creature comforts not available nor incorporated into the Sprite. This particular car was shipped from California and therefore has no significant rot and only minor surface rust. It has been stored inside since it's trek to the east coast. The car obviously needs a complete restoration but it is probably the best unrestored Innocenti Spider in existance not only due to the condition of the body/chassis but the fact that is is 98% complete. It hasn't been hacked-up nor taken apart. For example, the car still has it's rare rubber floor matting, a windshield, all of the rare detail parts peculiar to this car in the engine bay, the rubber trunk mat and "Innocenti" branded jack strap, an NOS speedometer, original seats, all of it's proper switches and gauges, rear light lenses, NOS front directional signal units, NOS side marker lights, and NOS hubcaps (These last items are included as stated but not mounted on the car and therefore not shown in the photos). Car will be supplied with all lighting units, lens, etc. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like additional photos. If you are seriously interested in this car, it would benefit you to contact me for a complete discussion of all the details parts and components that will be included with this auction. The car is available for inspection which I encourage for a full appreciation of the condition of the car, and the rare parts included. This is a unique opportunity to own one of these rare cars. The economy is down, the car hobby is negatively affected in the same way as other areas, but if this doesn't sell, I am inclined to just put it back into free storage until better times.
