This is a very nice '64 California Spyder that has been mechanically restored in 2009 by Jeff Williams at California Corvairs in Chino Hills. It has the rare rally steering wheel option and daytona blue color. Granted the paint is quite faded and will need to be resprayed but it is an original daytona blue spyder. The mechanical rebuild includes a total engine and transaxle rebuild. If you are familiar with California Corvairs shop in Chino Hills then you know the quality of their work. The cost of the work can not be recouped but hopefully someone who appreciates the rarity of this car will buy it and enjoy the work that has already been invested. Suspension, brakes and steering reconditioned with new fluid and bushings.New engine wiring harness.New battery, new voltage regulator. Detailed Description:Rebuild engine to include: clean-up and preparation of replacement 164 ci. engine case with good studs, installation of new camshaft w/gear, new lifters, replacement machined crankshaft (turned, polished & maged), new .010 main and rod bearings, rebored .030 cylinders, new pistons w/pins, new piston rings, new gaskets and seals (viton) throughout. Rebuild 150 HP cylinder heads to include: new stainless steel valves, install new deep valve seats, install new bronze valve guides, new HD valve springs, repair all threaded holes including spark plugs, mill valve cover rails and surface head gasket areas. Perform triple-angle valve grind and final assembly. Install rebuilt cylinder heads onto engine with new copper base and head gaskets. Clean and paint/powdercoat existing engine sheetmetal, replace engine seals (4), install rebuilt harmonic balancer, reinstall existing exhaust, turbocharger and associated items with new gaskets and seal. Install new battery, new fan belt, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel pump and install good used factory fuel lines. Install new head tem sender wiring harness. Remove and rebuild a different Carter YH side draft carburetor (existing carb was rebuilt incorrectly). Install new set 8MM ignition wires (black). Install new blower bearing into top cover. Disassemble and replace differential and gearbox. Reseal both units and install onto engine with rebuilt HD pressure plate, rebuilt clutch disc, new T/O bearing, new pilot bushing, new input shaft seal, rebuilt flywheel and replacement clutch fork. Remove and replace pitman arm bushing. Remove all wheels, brake drums, shoes and hardware. Clean and inspect hardware and shoes. Shoes are good. Disassemble all fiour wheel cylinders, rebuild and reassemble all brakes. remove master cylinder, flush cylinder and brake lines. Bleed and adjust. remove and replace front and rear shocks. Install KYB high pressure gas shocks with new bushings.
