Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is my 1985 Bertone X/19. It is a very nice little machine it perfect running condition. It has a few options like working power windows. Bosch fuel injection. It starts right up and idles around 900 RPM. The engine purrs like a kitten and is in excellent condition with only 50k original miles. It operates at normal temperature and cooling fans come on when needed. The 5 speed gearbox shifts very nice through the gears as it should. Reverse gear is working as it should. I have achieved over 30 mpg . Thanks to no A/C option the motor has never run hot. This car handles like no other. Forget about the ultimate driving machine this will make a turns at almost any speed. It has a working BMW AM/FM cassette stereo. The previous owner has changed the clutch, timing belt and radiator. I have changed the front brakes, lines. The oil has been recently changed in the tranny and the motor. I also had a windshield put in. I actually found a brand new piece of glass still in the box. The windshield was cracked due to a passing cars mirror hit it when it was parked near the road. I also had to be replaced the driver mirror. Glass coverage is a must on this car. The windshield cost exceeded 1000 dollars. The exterior of the car still shines nice and is in good shape with much of the 25 year old paint. A few spots have been touched up due to rust starting in places. I guess the car could use a new paint job if one wanted it to be perfect. There is no rust underneath the car floors, frame, suspension or shock towers. The bottom of the car is in near mint condition with no fluid leaks of any kind. The tires have good tread but are starting to crack from age. The car can be driven but will need tires if going on a long trip. I also have the original clarion radio and the clock. This car has only been driven 2k miles a year and spent a lot of its time in storage. To many toys forces sale. If this is the first Bertone you are looking to own you should first do your homework/research on these cars. These cars are very small and can be uncomfortable to get in and out for some people. There is no power steering or power brakes. I've listed this car and explained its condition to the best of my ability and do not claim to be an expert in any way. This car is 25 years old and does show some ware and tear. You are welcome and encouraged to look at and inspect the car in person as you should with any car of this age. I am not a dealer but will answer questions to the best of my ability. No warranty of any kind will be offered with the vehicle listed here. It will be sold AS IS where is. Full payment through Paypal requires a 5% additional charge. (They will Charge Me this fee) No zero feedback bidders please without my permission. they will be removed. Thanks for looking. happy bidding. On May-09-10 at 14:13:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I had no idea my little car has a salvage title carfax until after i listed it and looked @ the report. I called a good friend of mine who is a dealer of classic cars for many years. He mentioned the FIAT dealers went out of business/bankrupt in the late 80's and caused alot Bertone cars new and used trade ins to have total insurance pay outs. The NY title I have mentions no salvage and is a clear NY title with my name on it. this car has all of its original panels and mechanics that I know of. There is no signs of previous heavy damage. I've owned 7 X19s in my life. I know all the problems they have trust me. My back still hurts from pushing them in my early years. If you don't buy one with Fuel injection your crazy. I guarantee the carburetor models will break down ALL the time. And then theirs the old style Marrelli alternator and starter that will just keep you busy. Add 4 fuse boxes and a gazillion cheap relays which are located all over the place to the equation. Don't drive it in the rain what ever you do. The late 70's and 81,2, is where the phrase"fix it again tony" started. You will be fixing it every week. Almost every part of these cars was upgraded when Bertone took over production in late 83. Added was Jettronic 2 fuel injection, Bigger air cooled alternator, Better electronic ignition. Body rust proofing, Three stage paint, Motor mounts that don't bend, Way better electrical system with a lot of upgrades to the wiring. Stainless exhaust No kidding. My car is the best running X19 in the North East. It has no signs of any accident. Lets face the facts. Who would fix the car if smashed in 1989 when the salvage was issued. At that time you could pick one up for a few hundred bucks. They sat on the lots for 2 years. I know, I bought one for this reason. I'm only selling it because I'm out of inside storage. It would be a shame to leave it outside.
