Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1953 Austin Healey 100 but titled as a 1954. It was built on October 26, 1953 and comes with the British Heritage report. It was sold new in dry Spokane, Washington but has been owned by one family in Oregon since 1959.This is an early car as there were 10,030 BN-1`S built and this car is body number 531. The early BN-1`S had some unique features not found on later cars such as adjustable steering wheel, 2 piece dash, alloy bonnet, etc.Normally the body number is marked on the side lip of the bonnet but this one has the following stamped on it, (8-spare). The boot lid is steel and could be original as not all early cars had an alloy one and the body number is also stamped on the prop rod bracket but this has been re-welded and the number is not readable. There is evidence of a minor shunt to the rear end but otherwise is accident and rust free and super straight. The front shroud is perfect with a nice original grille. The whole car is rust free even in the rear fender dogleg area which is the first place that will rust. The rocker panels are original and do not need to be replaced. Undeneath the car shows some scaley rust but easily comes off with a scraper and there is no rust holes anywhere. The left front outrigger has a dent in the front side and the cross frame near the rear of the transmission has a dent that broke the weld down the center of the frame piece but easily repaired. The cylinder head was removed and sent out for rebuild years ago and the engine unbolted to be removed for a rebuild but it never came out so the engine will need a rebuild. The cylinder head was rebuilt with new valves, springs, etc. and I recently had it magnafluxed for cracks and it`s crack free! A new alloy cylinder head costs $4300. The plastic vin plate that was attached to the left front inner upholstery panel is still there which is rare and only used on the early cars. The interior is still original but needs replaced but still has the original tenex fastners on the armrest and tonneau. The original color of the car was Carmine red but now has a worn out cheap white paint job. You can see a lot of spots where the white paint is peeling and the original red is still there. The original tonneau cover is in usable condition with no tears and good original zipper. The original factory TRI-XXX windshield is in great shape with no chips or scratches. The original tools, jack, and sidecurtains are missing. The car is sold AS IS. The winning bidder must send a non-refundable $1000 deposit with-in 72 hours and the full balance due in 7 days.Payment to be made by certified cashiers check, postal money order, bank wire transfer or cash, No Pay Pal. Buyers not in the US to pay by bank wire transfer only. For overseas buyers I will haul the car to a shipper of your choice in Portland, Oregon for a $150 fee. I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale locally
