Vehicle Detail
This is a 1968 VW Karmann Ghia project. It is a coupe with the back seat removed and a make shift door in its place. The battery has been moved to under this door. The Volkswagon engine has a two barrel carb and manifold update on it. The engine looks very complete but unfortunately, the owner before left the hood up outside and now the engine seems seized. I don't think it would take much to pull the engine and rebuild it. Thats what I was going to do. So I know nothing about the engine or trans axle. The car will roll around. I haven't had a need for the brakes just yet but you can figure they would need attention as well. There are only two lug bolts for each wheel. The interior of the car needs floor pans. The doors shut well right now. I have one complete seat and one seat top. The dash is missing the speedometer and amp gauge? There is no radio and the glove box is missing the door.Ther are now door panels. The dash pad seems to be almost crack-free with only a small puncture in one of the speaker holes. The headliner is in decent shape and looks like mohair. The glasses is complete with minimal wear scratches. The doors ARE SOLID. Please refer to the pictures. The bottoms of the doors are very clean. I think the restorer before me filled the holes when he de-chromed it. The front hood looks pretty good and very use able. The back lid has a plaster hunk out of it but I don't know why. There is no distortion on the bottom side of the lid. The lights are just sitting in there place without any trim rings around them. The rear lower quarters need inside and outs, as well as the rockers. The nose has plaster on it but I am not certain I can understand why. I think the whole car was skim coated with a Bondo. There are panels that show bondo cracks and the inside of the panel is clear. This car has a CLEAR TITLE. It would make an awesome road race car as well as just a great driver. It also would work well for a first car project. Volkswagons are relatively easy to work on. The doors and hoods are very solid and usable. The body seems to be complete with some rust. The engine is very easy to get to and can be pulled out in your driveway. If you actually saw this car in real life (and you are welcome too) you would almost fall in love with its potential. I couldn't help get the feeling that I was working on a AC Cobra because of its body lines. I have tried to be as brutally honest as I can about this car. I have too many projects and I just got layed off. It must go. Please ask any questions you need before bidding. This car will need to be trailered and I can help with loading it. The high bidder makes those arrangements and pays those cost.On May-08-10 at 15:44:47 PDT, seller added the following information:Remember this is a NO RESERVE bid on a titled car. The high bidder is the owner of this car. It has to go.
