Vehicle Detail
The body and paint are in excellent condition. No major dings or chips. Tires only have about 2300 miles on them. Brakes are good. The engine runs strong and smooth and the dual exhaust is quiet. The beefed up suspension allows for great control and noise supression over potholes & bumps. The air conditioning blows extremely cold even in 98 degree weather (As of 05/06/10) here in West Texas. In January, this car sat for three weeks in 20 degree weather without being started. It turned over on the first attempt. The thermostat was replaced in January 2010. As you're going down the highway, you can let go of the wheel and it runs straight...no veering off due to bad tire balance or suspension problems. It was bought to be used for drug testing and other safety compliance testing in the oil field. Frankly, we found a small SUV more suited to the task on those tough roads leading to the oil rigs in the middle of nowhere. It is currently registered in Texas through 12/10 and safety inspected through 10/10. This car has a history of distinguished service with an Arizona police department. It had never been privately registered prior to my buying it in October 2009. It was driven by one detective since it was new until the day he retired. I drove it over 600 miles to Odessa, TX from Tucson, AZ without a problem and have used it regularly in our area for local runs within a 30 mile radius. I averaged over 22 miles per gallon on the highway and 17 in the city. It has plenty of power. There are NO HOLES drilled or filled in the body due to police radio antennas or lights. These are all the attributes of this vehicle. However, to be fair and leave no misconceptions about anything on this car, here is the downside list: 1. Dash is badly cracked and the interior is terrible. There are no rips in the seats..but they need reinforcement. The headliner and sunvisors are ripped and the carpeting needs replacing. I checked replacement costs on Ebay and these items(except for the seats) can be replaced for less than $400. 2. The radio is not connected to the antenna but it powers on. 3. The power locks are not working. 4. Power windows work, but are shaky or slow. 5. There is a "whine" coming from the fuel pump...told this is not unusual for a '90 Crown Vic. 6. The speedometer works fine, but the odometer is frozen. This would be a great restoration project while functioning as a good work or school car. We have it listed for sale locally and reserve the right to discontinue the bidding at any time.
