Vehicle Detail

One of the few cars that looks better as a convertible than a hardtop. I bought this car about 37 years ago when I was in high school. In 1982 I got laid off from my job and decided to restore the car but soon realized it takes too much money to restore properly on unemployment benefits and now I don’t have the desire. The whole car (except for the hood ) is covered with surface rust as it was sand blasted and primed in 82. I had purchased another 65 chevelle for parts and replaced the original manual steering box with the power unit from the parts car. You will also notice there are some duplicate parts such as bumpers, grills, headlights etc. The car came from the factory with a 283, 4- speed and front bench seat. The engine is not the original but it is a 1965 283. You will notice there is an extra trans. case as the complete trans. has an ear that bolts to the bell housing broke off. I removed the fabric from the seats as they got infested with mice, notice there aren’t any backs for the front seat because the mice were so bad the springs rusted to pieces so I threw them away. The frame looks very good with only a couple swelling spots where the steel overlaps itself by the spot welds. The rocker panels are excellent except for a long crease in the drivers side. The right front fender had a 1-1/2” x 3” patch welded in on the lower corner by the door. The right rear quarter has a ¾” x 3” hole above wheel well. The left rear quarter isn’t so good, I think it was crashed before I bought it and not repaired very well as there is a lot of bondo and rust. I had bought a new skin for it and it is still in the cardboard box it came in. There is some rust-through where the front seat bolts down on the drivers side. The worst rust is on the front of the hood, trunk floor and the panel between the tail lights that is mostly covered by the bumper and trunk lid when it is closed. The only chrome I know I don’t have is the long pieces for the rear quarters. One set of bumpers is very straight, the other set is not so straight. This car requires a lot of time and money to make it back into a sweet classic but it is a very solid start. What you see is what you get but if I forgot something feel free to e-mail questions
