Vehicle Detail

This car was put in storage in 1969. Owner deceased, passed it on to his Son, who i purchased the car from approx 1 1/2 yr ago...Towed it home and got to work. COMPLETELY dismantled the car, went through just about everything. The body is sitting on 1940 Ford frame, front end, juice brakes, ALL cleaned and gone through, stripped down to bare metal. Original rear crossmember, flattened and molded in, done by me, lowered the rear end approx 5" or more.....stock 40 ford front axle.. MOTOR: 1949 Mercury 255 Flathead - EDLEBROCK Finned alluminum Heads - OFFENHAUSER Aluminum Intake with 4 bbl HOLLY Carburator, Aluminum WEBER flywheel - ISKY No. 88 CAM - 40 Ford Truck Water Pumps - Stock exhaust manifolds, Original 40 ford Brake / Clutch pedal with orignal linkage (need to finish)...ALL VINTAGE SPEED PARTS -- The only thing new on this car is the front leaf spring shackles that i replaced. I kept it very traditional and just wanted to "restore" this car as it is a piece of Hot Rodding history. This car ran the streets of Cleveland Ohio back in the day..Motor was NOT taken apart, but cleaned and painted Gold metallic, tranny is flat white. (Motor was rebuilt within last 10 years, had 40k miles on it, only driven around the block before i got it. 1936 FORD 3 spd Transmission (supposedly Lincoln zephyr gears)( I have not confirmed, but im 99% sure of this.) 1957 Ford Steering Column and box White 1949 Ford Steering wheel (has a larges chunk missing in back - my bad, too hard with the malet..) but it'll will work. Included is the 57 ford steering wheel that was on the car, i replaced it, cause the 49 gives me a little more room in there..... BODY Completely stripped with paint stripper and wire brush including front and back bumpers....fenders were done with D-A sander and grind marks are present, but wouldnt take much to get smooth......car has TONS of patina. Body and fenders clear coated to protect from further rusting..... Floors need work. Rust in Lower sections of the body, fenders where they mount, floorboards....etc...SEE PICS ~ please see pics...rest of the ORIGINAL Steel body is in AMAZING Condition. Amazing 1930's Rat Rod ART DECO car. Waterfall dash, 36 gauges, Even the original ASHTRAY! Glove box door....etc..... SEAT was upholstered in the 50's, its red and white vinyl...needs to be stitched up, but is in Very good condition otherwise. White wall tires like new... Desoto ? hubcaps.....the rears were cut to clear the axle...... Car needs to be finished.. I DROVE this car down the street and back when i bought this car last year, I KNOW it runs Excellent. I was told that when this motor was pulled from the 49 Merc, it had 39000 miles on it, the motor was TOTALLY taken apart and replaced what needed to be about 10 years ago. The previous owner was a flathead GENIUS, and everything was done right. Car was driven periodically around the block over the last 10 years AND sat a bunch. When i go the car it needed some TLC. No problem, it was well deserved candidate! I left the original LEADED and brazed repairs made on the rear fenders in the 1950's, they were covered by body filler, probably the only areas on the entire car that had filler, the rest is unbelievably straight. Front window cranks smoothly...Side windows and ALL mechanisms are still in doors, windows are cracked.. The rear window mechanism was rusted out and removed, but i still have it. The car was fully uholstered when i got it, but it had water damage, I still have the original Door panels that were done in the 50's for templates, but they're shot. I also have ALL of the inside window moldings ALL headliner bows.... STAINLESS spears for the hood....Both Hood Sides, excellent condition, with hinges. All were originally on the car.... WILL NEED FINISHED!!! - brakes all around (wheel cylinders - brake shoes - master cylinder - brake lines) - Wired - Floors Fixed - water neck gaskets - exhaust manifold gaskets - Motor and tranny mounts (hockey puck style) - One glass headlight lense along with trim ring I am in the process of getting the original Title......it IS included in the auction, previous owner suffered stroke, so its takin more time than i thought.... If you have any questions, call MIKE @ 216-624-8153 - Car is located in Cleveland Ohio 44102, LOTS of pics to the NEW owner of this car, Throughout the ENTIRE process of restoration.
