Vehicle Detail
This is a rare metallic burgundy 1992 Allante convertible with black leather interior. It is in excellent condition inside and out and has been garage stored. It has been impeccably maintained and serviced by "Allante Source" of Palm Beach, Florida, so you can be assured that it is mechanically sound. We are the original owners of this vehicle which has 67,315 miles. It runs great and has no issues. The vehicle has been recently detailed but still sports a few door dings and pebble dings. Brush on and spray on touch up paint is included. The vehicle electronics are all in perfect working order and it has the digital dash display and the prototype Northstar engine in the 1992 model year. This vehicle has been part of our lives for the past 18 years and we hate to part with it. It's a perfect addition to any current collection as only 360 burgundy metallic 1992 Allante's were produced. Or, if you have been searching for a vehicle that is fun to drive and will turn heads wherever you take it, then this one is for you. Currently located in Port Saint Lucie, FL. On May-03-10 at 17:12:55 PDT, seller added the following information:Two additional items about the vehicle. First - all of the tires are new (less than 1000 miles). Second - when the title and registration were moved to Florida from Delaware, apparently the DMV employee entered the trip odometer reading of 368, not the actual odometer. I will reserve my comments about that. The listing of 67,315 is the accurate and actual mileage since 1992.On May-05-10 at 06:44:19 PDT, seller added the following information:I have received two comments about the engine in the 1992 Allante so I thought I'd better clarify the description. ONLY the 1993 Allante came equipped with the Northstar engine. The 1992 engine is not the Northstar, it is the prototype for the Northstar engine and it is specific to the 1992. That's what it says in the description above - "prototype"...On May-05-10 at 07:07:35 PDT, seller added the following information:OK OK OK - you guys are hammering me about the engine. I am going to defer to the note just sent by thebofofus regarding the engine in the 1992. He writes: "I am an ASE master tech and have worked at a Cadillac dealer almost 20 yrs.The 4.5 is a "bored out" derivative of the HT4100 (first year-1982)and the predecessor to the 4.9 liter pushrod engine used in Devilles/Sevilles/Eldos but has absolutely NOTHING in common with the dual overhead cam Northstar!! This is the same motor as a Deville/Seville Eldorado back to 1990 (1985-90 was 4.1 liter)with the exception of the unique air intake runners." ---- So there you have it. I think we can all agree that the 1992 did NOT have a Northstar engine, and we can also agree that the engine in the car is a good one. This listing is still a great car at a very fair price. On May-06-10 at 06:54:30 PDT, seller added the following information:In the spirit of full disclosure and to address several other questions that I have received, I am adding to the description. First - the car will be delivered with the minicovers. Second - the car will be delivered with a full tank of gas; it is not due for an oil change for another 2000 miles. Third - there is a very small and very old pebble ding on the passenger side of the front windshield. It is at least 12 years old, has made it through winters and summers, and shown no signs of growing or running. On May-06-10 at 15:07:44 PDT, seller added the following information:Correction to earlier statements: In the 1992 production year, only 32 Allantes were made in metallic Burgundy - 8 with hard tops and 24 with only convertible tops.On May-07-10 at 10:21:14 PDT, seller added the following information:This will be the last update to the description but the information is important to anyone seriously considering placing a bid over the weekend. All of the work described here has been done by Allante Source. Those who know Allante's may be aware that there have been speedometer fluctuation problems with many of the cars, and certainly know that there has been an epidemic of failed fuel injectors due to the ethanol now present in our fuel. The digital display cluster on this vehicle has been replaced recently to remedy the speedometer issue which we experienced about a month ago. The vehicle has had ALL 8 of the fuel injectors replaced with ones not subject to the ethanol erosion of the original equipment. And for anyone who has insisted - you know who you are - YES the vehicle has the mini-covers. Just to reiterate - this is one of only 32 metallic burgundy 1992 Allante's produced. I don't have the numbers on interior color, but there were very few with black. Thanks for enduring my dialog.
