Vehicle Detail
1969 Porsche 912 Targa: Solid Glass Rear Window Up for sale is a very nice; mostly original Targa. Look at the production numbers for import this year; very limited production and import to US. Most 1969 912's are hard roof cars. This car has come from a list of caring owners. I have much documentation. I am the fifth owner of the car. The car was sold new to a Doctor in Knoxville, Tennessee by Snider Motors/VW on September 16, 1969. The price on the actual invoice was $6185.00. This car has remained in the South and as far as the history shows, in Northeast, Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. This car has the original wheels (One Pictured with Car) hub caps, jack, tools, owners manual. The newer style 911 wheels currently on the car will also go with the car--two sets for the buyer. This car has original engine, transmission and wheels. The wheels are numbered as correct. This car has a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche Cars of North America and the document is signed and dated February 12, 1996. Engine #4096321, Transmission #5193237, Paint Code #6806 Irish Green. A book of maintenance and owner documentation goes with the car. Recent Work: Both Solex Carbs Rebuilt, New Coil, New Wires, New Distributor Cap, Points and Spark Plugs. New coil and recent fuel pump. (original style fuel pump) Underside: Solid; orignal floorpans; much factory paint and undercoating still showing. Flaws: Original windshield; but approximately 4" crack on right side toward windshield frame; not in line of passenger vision. Hood painted once a long time ago; not the quality of the original paints; some cracking and chips. Driver side front fender has paint bubbling along the rain water drain line area. This car has been in the dry for many years. The dash has some cracks and also the radio speaker area is cracked from the heat. Note: The book value even in low retail is approximately $15K for this car. I do want to sell this car. I need the space. Admire and bid the best that you are able. If you appreciate unmolested timepieces this car is for you; if you want a shiny new looking Porsche, you are more than welcomed to bid, but this vehicle would be mostly appreciated by a collector. Note: We reserve the right to kick back any bidders with feedback with less than 5 positives. Sales Taxes: I will have to collect sales taxes on this car if you are a Tennessee Resident. Out of State Residents will pay the sales taxes at their respective DMV. Thank You. On Apr-16-10 at 18:42:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 4/16/10 9:35PM EST The reserve has been met. Thank you all for your bids and massive interest. I have, as promised included floorpan pictures and undershots. This car is very dry as you can see from the pictures. Solid as a rock underneath. I have also included a picture of the one dash crack and also there were some questions on the windshield crack so I have included that also. Thank you all once again. On Apr-18-10 at 02:20:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Sunday April 18, 2010 To summarize on many questions as follows: 1) On the drian rail area paint bubbling on driver fender: This is a typical area of problem for 912's; it is on driver fender around one inch wide and 6-8 inches long; probably caused from rain drainage many years ago. 2) Again, this car was purchased new in Knoxville, Tennessee; had alot of question on it's origin. This is not a car from up north as is evident from the underpan pictures provided a few days ago. 3) On the running of the car; Solexes were rebuilt around 3 months ago, but are still Solexes ( a little sputtery when cold ) I run high test gas in this car all the time. I was trying to keep the car as original as possible, but if someone wanted this car as a daily commuter, I would put Weber Carbs on it and store the Solexes. Note: If anyone has any questions on the car, please call Gene my technician at (423) 366-0026 anytime. Thank you again for all of the interest in this car.On Apr-19-10 at 17:27:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note, again: No bidders under five positive feedbacks to bid. Thank You.
