Vehicle Detail
Rare 1966 GTO Hardtop For sale is a rare 1966 GTO hardtop. The vin 242176K134953 decodes as follows: 2- Pontiac, 42- GTO, 17- 2 Door Hardtop, 6- 1966, K- Car manufactured in Kansas City, MO, 1- 8 cyl. less than 100,000 units manufactured, 34953- sequential unit #. This car comes with the original Tripower, which makes it a very rare and sought after car. The car was originally Marina Turquoise, which there was not many made in that color. The interior is the original Parchment. This car has the Munci 4 Speed manual transmission in good working shape. The motor is a 400 ci, which is not original, it is supposed to be a 389 ci. The car runs and drives under its own power. Mechanically speaking the car seems to be in good conditions, especially the tripower, usually they are real loose and sloppy, this one is a very tight working and responsive unit. The tripower alone would sell for around $2,000-$2,500. It appears that this car has almost all numbers matching original parts. The body on this car is easily restorable. It needs the usual floor and trunk pans. It also needs repair on the back corner of the drivers door, lower fenders, and passenger side rear lower quarter panel. The windshield cowl also has rust holes in it. The nose of the grill and left hand quarter panel has some bondo cracking on them which you can see in the pictures. Any possible part that you would need for this car is easily available. If you are looking to redo a very rare one of a kind 1966 GTO, this would be a great one. Originally a Tripower, 4 speed Munci, 389 ci, Marina Turquoise, 2 door hardtop gem. Cars like this redone sell for up to $70,000-$80,000, if done right. Cars in this shape I have watched sell for $12,000-$15,000 on ebay. This is your opportunity to own one now!!! This auction also comes with a 455ci. When I got it I intened to put it in this car, but never did. It is suppose to fit in this car, and was said to be a good running motor. My loss is your gain. If you have any questions feel free to email me, I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. Happy bidding.
