Vehicle Detail

1978 Chevrolet Caprice Classic - 4 door Sedan One Family Car! - This Caprice classic Was Originally Purchased by my Grandfather from a dealer in Topeka Kansas and spent most of the next 20 years very rarely outside of his neighborhood. I only saw it out of topeka once when he came to my high school graduation in 1984. I picked up the car in 1999 after his passing and it became my daily driver for the next 9 years. When I got it the car only had 37k original miles and was in fantastic condition. The car has been extremely reliable transportation for me and my family. The engine reguires 3 pumps (2 Times) on the gas pedal when cold and it starts every time. Engine runs great, Transmition is smooth, brakes are great, Tires are great! It has the factory GM Radio and speakers - works great! I am buying a house and won't have a place to store the car when I move, and can use the money right now, or else I would keep it! I purchased an econo-box car in 2008 when gas was crazy expensive and the Caprice has been sitting for the better part of the last two years other than me starting it and running around occasionally or taking it to the car wash every few months for a bath. I have kept it pretty well maintained over the years and I am listing below the last items that I replace on the car! Carberator was rebuilt in 2002, Blower Motor replaced 2003, K&N Filter installed 2004, Exhaust replaced in 2004, Rear Brakes replaced in 2004, Headliner replaced in 2005, Front Brakes replaced in 2005, Alternator replaced in 2007, Flushed Radiator and replaced Thermostat in 2007, All 4 Shocks and Tires replaced in 2008, Multi-function Turn, Dimmer, Hazard, Switch Steering Collumn harness replaced in 2009 Known Maintainance Issues that should be addressed on the car are - The Power steering pump leaked for a while in 2008 and I stopped the leak with Lucas P.S. Stopleak additive, The steering collumn needs taken back apart and a plastic piece needs to be tracked down and put back in where the turn signal lever attaches, and then the steering wheel needs put back on straight! - When I had it apart last year I got it off by a couple of notches and it is a little off center right now. Also something is different on the new harness and it causes the generator light to come on now even though there is no charging issue! One of the headlight bulbs is cracked and needs replaced (still works), The air conditioning has never worked since I owned it - It is an R12 system and converting it to R32A was never high on my priority list. The Driver Door Window needs to be dis-assembled on re-glued to the channel the it sits on. It came loose in 2006 and I reattached it - But I glued the track slightly further back than it should be and if you roll down the window without holding it in place it tilts forward because it misses the edge of the track and Missing one hubcap! Body Issues - This is a perfect car for restoration! The good news is that this car has never been bodyworked ever - NO BONDO here! The bad news is that this car has never been bodyworked ever. The Paint is original 32 year old GM Single Stage paint with a trillion hours in the Kansas Sun. After this many years the old paint is worn out with light surface rust only. There is NO major rust through issues anywhere on the body but a number of dents primarily on the left side as listed - Right fender front corner - Pumkin! Right Fender behind wheel well - Coyote! (died Instantly) Right Rear Door Ripples - Parking Garage Pole! Left 1/4 Panel - Skateboard left in trunk rolling back and forth for 2 weeks! Ding on Roof and chrome Molding above rear window crinkled- Tree Branch! I manage an auto parts store, and will be willing to work with the buyer on any new parts they may want to get with it so keep that in mind. I will probably get the headlight changed out this week. Look over the pictures and e-mail me if you have any further questions - I can deliver the car to Topeka, Lawrence, Ottawa, or Kansas City (Kansas Side) Buyer. Outside of this area buyer will have to transport themself! Thanks For looking and Good Luck Bidding!
