This car has spent it's entire life in my family and in California. It was my great aunt's, who bought it new and put about 80,000 miles on it in Southern California. It then sat in a garage for 20 years until it became my daily driver. I have put approx. 20,000 miles on it in the last 2 years while living in Fresno. Mostly freeway miles - I have done multiple drives between Fresno and San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Yosemite. Mileage shows 02188 (5 digit odometer.) It has rolled over once which puts the mileage at 102,188 however the odometer has been sticking for approx the last 6 months. I would estimate the mileage is closer to 104,000. The engine is sound; if it hasn't been driven in a while it usually takes some pumping on the gas and a few cranks to get it started which is typical for a carburetor engine. Otherwise it starts up and runs fine even in the relatively extreme Fresno climate. I had the steering system reworked at the Mercedes dealership about 6 months ago. I also have had the starter, battery, and alternator replaced and I have done regular oil changes. I also had all 4 tires replaced 1.5yrs and about 15,000 miles ago. No accident history and clean title. There is no history report because the car was made before 1981. Air conditioning, lights, power locks, power windows. This thing is a classic and has loads of potential. I don't have the desire to restore it but I think it could really shine. I am getting rid of it because I no longer wish to rely on a 36yr old car to take me to work, and sentimentality aside there is no point in having this vehicle in the family any more. This vehicle is sold AS IS with no warranty express or implied. That said here is the full disclosure:-Upholstery is 36yrs old and is coming apart in some areas: headrests and the right side back seat (pictured)-Some superficial rust spots and a larger one near the right front headlight (pictured)-Front passenger seatbelt inertia reel locks frequently and needs replacing-I scraped a pole a year ago which scraped some paint from the right side (pictured)-Car does not always stay in park. Don't rely on the "Park" setting - using the parking brake alleviates the problem. From browsing other ebay ads apparently this is not an uncommon issue for the 1974 Mercedes.-Air conditioning works but only on fan setting #2-No working heater-Left power window does not always work. Right power window roller does not stop when the window does; ie. If the window is fully up and you keep pressing the button, the roller will make a clunk sound as it continues to try to roll up the window.-Gas gauge is not 100% accurate except at empty and full. Low fuel light works.-Temperature gauge bounces around while driving although at lower speeds you can still read it-Odometer sticks intermittently (last 6 months) Buyer is responsible for all shipping/pickup arrangements. $200 deposit due within 24hrs from the end of the acution. Full payment due at pickup of car, must be picked up within 10 days from the end of the auction. Cashiers check or cash only.
