Vehicle Detail

This 1929 Model A Ford Roadster is green with yellow wheels and a black interior and a tan canvas top. The canvas top is dry rotted and needs replacement. I bought this roadster from a Mr. Alvin Wendler in Brenham Texas immediately after he fully restored it in 1968. I was in college at the time and I drove it briefly for about a year. It has always been stored inside either in my father’s Carriage Museum at our ranch in Texas or briefly in a workshop building and thereafter at a fully enclosed and climate controlled storage space here in Houston. It has never been left out in the weather during my 50 years of ownership. The only work I had done to it after the original restoration in 1968 was to rebuild the engine later that year. It has a rumble sheet which is upholstered in the same vinyl as the interior. The odometer says 1503 miles but that is probably not accurate. I’m sure that I have driven it no more than 1000 miles during the 50 years that I have owned it. My guess is that the prior owner reset the odometer to Zero back in 1968. It is all original mechanically but restored to running condition of course, which includes the six volt electrical system. Very few of the parts used in the restoration were reproduction parts. A few days ago I charged up the battery and the starter cranked the engine over just fine but I did not start the engine yet since I had drained all the gas out before storage. It needs a cosmetic restoration such as minor paint work and a new canvas top and the wheels need to be painted. Also my father had the cowling over the gas tank repainted because spilled gas damaged the green paint and you can see in the photos that the green paint does not quite match. The yellow wheels have a very poor paint job and they will need to be striped and repainted. I also have side curtains for it which are also reproductions from 1968. The inner tube on the spare tire has failed and it needs replacement. So, in short this vehicle has been under my ownership for 50 years and driven only rarely. It has been well cared for and always stored indoors. Most of those years of storage, it was on display in an air conditioned carriage museum for my fathers horse drawn carriages. It is a nice solid Model A roadster. My reserve price is fairly low so all offers will be entertained. I've enjoyed it immensely during my ownership but it's time to let others enjoy it.
