Vehicle Detail
It's time to let go of my very rare 1999 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG. I've had this car for about 18 months and it's been a big part of growing my YouTube channel LegitStreetCars. If you follow the channel then you probably know all about this car. If not, I suggest watching the playlist of videos that I'll leave linked in this description and I'll go over the car here as well. First off this car has a clean title, 179,000 original miles, runs and drives great and is a blast to drive. It handles really well due to some aftermarket lowering springs and Bilstein shocks. The factory monoblock wheels are not cracked or bent and if you know these cars, you know the wheels are very valuable. The interior is all there and in decent condition considering the age and overall condition of the car, more on that in a bit. The engine sounds healthy and it passed a compression test as well. Ok on to the good stuff. After buying the car I made some repairs to get her ready for future videos and for some daily driving and general cruising around. I replaced the radiator, fan, thermostat, transmission conductor plate, electrical sleeve, and shift interlock seal. I fixed a power steering leak, replaced the spark plugs, shifter bushings, and a full Liqui moly synthetic oil change. The steering and suspension are in great shape, the engine runs great, the transmission shifts perfectly and there are no driveline vibrations or noises. You can cruise at 100 mph like nothing and it drives straight as an arrow. Now on to the bad stuff. Although the car looks good in pictures it's A complete project cosmetically. The car has bondo in the rear quarters, ground effects and fenders and I suspect one of the previous owners was trying to make their own custom body kit. It was probably cool at some point but it hasn't aged well as there are cracks in the bondo and half the car isn't really painted. It was rattled canned and looks pretty bad. There are also holes in the floor where the jack pads are. Very common on this era Mercedes and doesn't affect the structure of the car. These can be cut out and replaced with small new sections of the floorboard. I highly suggest you watch the inspection videos on this car as put the car on the lift and show you everything in detail. You can also watch me fix the car up, take it to Carmax for an appraisal, take it to the dyno, race a totally gutted E320, and put nitrous on the car. The nitrous is coming off and not even one bottle was put through the engine. Some little things off the top of my head.Windows all work and so does the sunroof. Power seats work and are very comfortable with AMG lumbar support. Passenger and rear seats look amazing. Driver seat isn't too bad either.Stereo works and sounds really good.Car has an aftermarket muffler that gives it an aggressive sound. Watch drive by clips in videos. The battery doesn't hold a charge so it needs to be jumped. AC doesn't work and the blower motor is stuck on so I disconnected it.Check engine, SRS and sometimes the ABS light are on. The shifter has a pin that fell out so it works but feels loose. The best route is a new shifter assembly off Ebay for about 50 bucks. These are not AMG specific so easy to come by.It also has some questionable wiring under the hood for the aftermarket headlights. They work but it needs to be rewired. The exhaust works is also not the best as the welds look pretty bad but it works. This is a great rolling project for someone who knows body work or just wants to mess around with a beginner AMG car. Again, watch the videos for the most details as I literally brought it to a Mercedes dealer, got an estimate for everything and then lifted it in my own garage to show you everything that's wrong with it and everything I fixed. If you have any questions just email me at legitstreetcars@gmail.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQy0B3jsi78&list=PLCPhBTbpYs4Jx7oHuQr5CGZQEjyHExrWo On Oct-30-18 at 19:37:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Couple more things. The car is missing the factory intake scoop tubes. The fan shroud is missingThe glass is all intact including the windshieldAll the doors open and close. The front tires are in good shape but the rear are pretty bald.Brakes are in good shape and stop perfectly. The engine does have a ticking noise. I haven't looked into this but I go over this in the video where I install the nitrous kit. Lastly, many body parts swap over from the base model 202 C Class so it's not to hard to find things like fenders, hoods, door etc.
