1978 Chevy Tow Truck. 1 ton 2wd chassis , with a Holmes 480, dual boom wrecker body. Has been owned by us since 1987 0r 1988. Had 43,075 original miles when we got it, amd now has 52,440 miles, and its original. Has 350 engine with the 4 speed creeper gear transmission. Drivetrain is great. Trans shifts fine , clutch is good. Dual rear wheel rear end. Has not been in use for years. Starts up with some starting fluid, (believe fuel pump is loosing its prime) after it starts it idles ok, It is a little choppy , the carb will need a rebuild. Has a y pipe exhaust leak. Has no brakes. Has replaced doors, fenders and inner fenders. Rockers have minimal rust. The usual floor and cab mount rust. Will need a total going over, from brakes, carb, and body. Needs paint. The PTO works ,but the mechanical levels for winches are very tight from not being used, so winches don't enguage. Great to restore, project. Bring trailer or rollback and take it home. Sold as-is.
