In case anyone else has noticed this, and is concerned, let me explain what happened. Item 3/23/2005. Prior owner bought the car and was issued the title #8648050824009. She put the title “away” and forgot where she had put it, when she was ready to sell the car, she had to request a duplicate title (issued 4/16/2014), then when I bought the car a new title was issued on 5/19/2014. As a matter of fact, a short while ago, she found the “lost” title, and I now have that title (signed by the seller) also in my file. So there is in fact no duplicate title floating around, a complete chain of ownership is intact, and all the paperwork I accounted for.
