THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! As much as it pains me to sell this 1984 beauty, I have limited space in my collection and a new bike coming. This is my THIRD VT500 Ascot and I’ve always thought they were an amazing bike. This particular custom is an homage to what is arguably the greatest roadrace in the world, the Isle of Man (if you don’t like the stickers and pins, they are easily removed). First, let’s talk about why this bike was WAY ahead of its time: 500cc V twin with WATER cooling, cast alloy wheels, dual plug heads with ELECTRONIC ignition, downdraft carbs, driveshaft, disc front brake and SIX speed transmission (5 speed with overdrive). I have added the following enhancements: chrome reverse cone megaphone (nice sound and not too loud), rejetted carbs, hi tech Hagon rear shocks with external damping and spring adjustments ($400), round chrome VT500 Shadow instruments and headlight with halogen bulb (losing the UGLY rectangular stock black plastic ones), Superbike handlebars, EBC sintered brake pads and braided steel line, performance spark plug wires, maintenance free battery, K & N lifetime performance air filter, new grips, custom upholstery, black paint with silver rally stripes, new tires, fork enhancement including new seals, oil, and aircaps, front master cylinder, flyscreen (works well), new clutch cable, oil & filter, stock toolset, $80 in IOM pin adornments on the windshield, alloy bullet turn signals/running lights, and much more. In addition, I invested over $500 into having an experienced mechanic (40+ years working on Hondas) to go completely through the engine and carbs. This bike is a RUNNER that puts a smile on my face every time I ride it, even capable of embarrassing modern sportbikes! It’s light as a feather and easy to ride for any beginner (I have a 30" inseam and can touch both feet down), yet capable of great things in the hands of an experienced rider as well. It is rock solid, handles amazingly well, starts immediately with the electric start (it’s a HONDA, right?) and brakes work great. Everything functions well, shifts great, idles nicely, all electrical and gauges works, no issues. Mileage showing on odometer is just 12, 803 - which is actually over by about 100 miles (the original “box” instrument showed almost identical to what’s on the bike now). I literally touched/cleaned/polished nearly every part on this beauty; this bike needs NOTHING and is ready to go! It would be a great first bike OR a nice addition to someone’s stable. We have owned this for over 10 years, it has always been stored indoors. We have a title and current registration but note that this title says salvage - which we don't know why since the bike has always worked very well. From experience, I know these are VERY hard to find, so bid now! There are several spare parts left over (centerstand, etc) that I can include if you want them. We try to accurately describe the shortcomings, but look at the photos and ask questions before bidding. Don’t bid if you intend to negotiate afterward; that is not how eBay works.
