Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is one of the most collectible vintage motocross bikes made. The first year edition, 1974 CR125 Elsinore is a must have for vintage motocross enthusiasts and for fans of the Honda motorcycle brand. This bike was carefully restored in an attempt to make it look just the same as it appeared on the dealer showrooms in 1974. The engine has all new bearings and seals and the cylinder has been bored out and fitted with a new piston and rings. The stock front forks have new seals and the aluminum lowers have been polished to the original satin sheen. On top of the forks feature newly chromed fork caps. The nice original DID wheels have fresh bearings, new spokes, and new tires & tubes. The rear wheel has the correct '74 hub with the smaller studs. The rear suspension features the stock Honda Showa shock absorbers with the original 1974 smaller shock shafts and new seals. The carburetor is the standard issue Keihen with all the correct carb boots and clamps. The carb breaths through the original '74 filter cage and it has the correct metal air filter holder fastened on. The frame retains the stock kickstand so that the bike is easy to display without needing a special stand. The swingarm is the correct arm with the original fragile roller chain guide. The swingarm axle is the original style with the grease fitting. The stock exhaust pipe is in excellent shape and has no dents along the bottom and it also has a perfect Honda pickle silencer and everything fits well onto the machine. The electrical system is all original Honda with the correct aluminum wire ties holding the wires in place. The kill switch is also the correct '74 CR125 type and not an incorrect CR250 style. The chromed handlebars are perfect for '74 and the levers, cables, and lever covers are all new. The seat has firm foam and a new seat cover is wrapped around a solid stock steel seat base. The '74 engine cases have no chain damage to the serial number area, and the ignition cover is complete with no broken parts.. The clutch cover has a perfect cable mount and the clutch cable has the correct plastic band securing it to the front down tube. The front fender retains the CR mud flap mounted on the end and the rear fender has the correct rubber strap running across it behind the air filter. The stock '74 tank is original and was restored at considerable expense. The tank was cut apart and hand worked to remove all dents so that it would not have any body filler. The tank was also sealed with a product called Red Kote so that it would not rust on the inside in the Florida humidity. There are a few items that were not possible to locate in perfect condition. The chromed kickstarter is a reproduction kicker. The side panel rubber bands and clutch perch were from a 1975 CR125 model. Here is your chance to own a true classic Honda. The parts for these bikes are getting really scarce and are expensive, which is driving up the costs of restoring a bike to showroom condition. This particular bike comes with a Bill of Sale only. I do not have a title for the machine. I will do my best to assist with the shipping of this cycle, however the cost of shipping is responsibility of the buyer.
