Vehicle Detail
2000 Saab 9-5 Aero wagon 240,628 miles, Imola Red exterior, Sand Beige interior $2000.00 OBO2.3 liter turbocharged, 230HP, automatic transmission 4 speedI’m the original owner. I purchased it September 2000. The car is original - no aftermarket modifications. This was my wife’s daily driver. It comes with the original BBS 2-piece wheels refinished by Wheel Collision Center in 2014, (worth $1000) dealer-installed receiver hitch and wiring, owner’s manual, both keys with remotes and Haynes service manual. Also included is a set of 4 refinished BBS 2-piece wheels with snow tires mounted. Those wheels were refinished when I purchased them years ago and could use refinishing again. Each winter I swapped the summer wheels/tires for the snow wheels/tires. The interior is in great shape. We always fixed whatever was wrong with the car until last fall when we decided to get something different after 17 years of this car being my wife’s daily driver. The good: Fun to drive and looks great. I have all the service records including all the work I’ve done myself. I’ve been replacing the oil every 10,000 miles or less with full synthetic. The automatic transmission was replaced at 165,777 miles with a used one that had 95,000 miles. We’ve used the space-saver spare twice. So I know it works and it is still usable and clean in the trunk with the jack and tow ring. The car still has the original exhaust and catalytic converter. It still passes biannual emissions tests in Maryland. There is plenty of tire and brake life left. The bad: The rear main seal between the engine and transmission is leaking oil. I haven’t added enough oil to get a feel for the rate of the leak, but at the least it’s less than 1 quart/1000 miles. To replace that gasket would require removing the transmission. The SID is missing a lot of pixels. We’ve replaced it three times before. The engine has intermittently been making a thrumming sound and when it does that it keeps doing it until you shut off the engine. It sounds like the rpms are cycling up and down a bit when it makes this noise, but the rpm gauge doesn’t show the rpms wavering. When you do turn off the ignition while the engine is doing this it continues to run for a second before stopping. When it does this thrumming, the car engine still works normally and does not go into limp home mode. I’m suspecting a sensor or vacuum leak. The interior rearview mirror is a little loose. There is rust on the body in front of both rear wheels. There are stone chips on the nose and hood. There are door dings on both sides. I’ll consider selling a set of wheels separately. One set of wheels BBS 2 piece Wheels are worth $1000. because I paid that much to have them refinished. They are mint.Haynes manual included. We have a Thule Roof Rack system with canoe and kayak mounts included with the car.
