This 1968 Chevelle 396 SS Convertible is very unique. It is 1 of 108 396 SS cars produced by the Oshawa, Ontario General Motors plant on October 19, 1967, and shipped on October 27, 1967 as Documented by GM of Canada as you can see in the photos. This is a much rarer car than those produced in the U.S. The body of the car needs little. As you can see from the photo, there is a spot on the front lower right fender that has some rot. Other than that, the car is solid. The paint is old ( I do not think it's original paint,), and I would repaint. It looks good from a short distance. The original paint color is cordovan maroon metallic. Trunk, floors and frame are all solid. No rot. The interior is better than good with no tears in any of the original bucket seats and other interior upholstery. The dash is not cracked and maintains good color. Drivetrain is excellent and is a daily driver. The top works excellent ands is a year old and is very good. The car is and was an automatic from the factory. However, the original owner converted to manual tranny when he was alot younger and then later restored back to original auto trans when his knee went out and couldn't use clutch easily. He left the clutch pedal in place in the event someone wanted to convert it back to a manual tranny later. Tires are very good with about 75% life remaining. THIS IS A NICE OLDER DRIVER QUALITY CAR THAT WILL REQUIRE SOME WORK TO MAKE REALLY, REALLY NICE! The NADA guide and the Old Car price guide shows a current low retail value of $26,800 to Average retail of $42,400. In excellent condition (a car that is brought to shows on a trailer), has a high retail value of $72,000. These values reflect the condition of the car.
