The car is one of the first 1,000 Stingrays produced by Chevrolet, manufactured on October 4, 1962 and has been registered in California since 1962. The second owner purchased the car in 1966 and promptly put the car in the garage barely using it. Beginning in the 1970’s the car was pretty much in storage full-time only being started and driven just enough to keep the car in running condition. The car is extremely original still sporting most of the parts that came on it from new. Much of the paint is also original as is the interior. This car is a true California Survivor! Being an early 1963 Stingray survivor we have confirmed the following items on/with the car- The California Title and Registration Documents show that the car has been in California since 1962. It also shows that the car has had the same owner for 51+ years. We have most of the California Registrations for this car dating back to 1966 plus a California “Pink Slip” Title dating back to the late 1970’s. The car is equipped as follows- Correct L76 327/340hp (RE) Solid Lifter Engine, 4-Speed Transmission, Hardtop, AM Wonderbar Radio. Original factory Tachometer “Red Line” Warning Buzzer which was recently tested and it still works. Original color matched painted steering wheel. Original “1963 only” glove box door in excellent condition. Correct and original 2 screw rocker moldings. Correct and original 1st generation inside rear view mirror. Original key with the key code tab still intact. Original and correct center instrument panel that was finished by the factory in matching red. Appears to be the original exhaust except for the mufflers that were replaced. Chassis is in original super clean condition and un-restored. Appears to be the original interior from new and the correct color – red “490D”. Most of the car appears to still have the original paint and the correct color – Ermine White “936”. We have the pair of original Disabled American Veterans “License Plate” key tags that match the California Black Plate “OYV 477” that has been on the car since 1966. The tires are date marked as being over 20 years old and still in almost new condition. The interior lights, horn and gauges all work. We recently pulled the car from storage (second owner is pictured with the car – see listing photos). The car starts, runs and drives well but should be serviced since it really hasn’t been driven for many years… The passenger headlight motor doesn't seem to be working at this time.
