Vehicle Detail
1970 Chevelle Malibu . Factory 350/350 car. Currently has mid-70's 350/350 setup with 69 350/350HP heads. Car runs/drives It has all original drum brakes and suspension. I would not recommend driving far in its current state without maintenance or upgrades being done.....lol......,It would probably make it if you don't get seasick from the floating/rolling original springs or various fluid leaks it may decide to start from decades old rubber hoses and seals.I'm going to list off the top of my head the good and bad,but pictures tell the story better than I.To be a great car it really needs total restoration.I pulled the carpet. As we all know metal condition here is everything.Trim Tag should tell you everything you need to know about original equipment. 1.Floor pans are all solid without pitting other then the driver foot area which needs the whole foot section grafted in.Alot of builders will only do a complete pan.Honestly i would section this pan and if looking for perfection use a filler or lead if you don't like plastic fillers in that location. 2.Trunk pan is all there, but severly pitted.looks like hell.Definately a place id change the complete pan.White stuff is previous owner experimenting with phosphoric acid. 3.Frame has no rust or damage 4.Body does not show any signs of collision.Has original quarters. From looking at backside has all the original splatter paint and again no signs of collision. 5.Doors are solid.Quarter or less sized rust hole area at the front bottom where these cars have sat with a rake. After it rains guess where the water sat. 6.Rockers are perfect 7.Roof perfect 8.Sail panel/deck area is near perfect.Starting to develop a small amount of rust under backglass also weatherstrip lip needs to be sectioned.Pics show these areas. 9.No rust around windshield, cowl or firewall 10.Front fenders have had the lower sections replaced in a lap over fashion. Not a preferred way of doing it,But looks ok 11.Core support perfect 12.Rear quarters have some small rust holes hiding under bondo in the very bottom. The lower trunk to quarter fillers are without rust.I know this panel is galvanized from the factory in my 69.These priobably were as well.Pretty resilient to corrosion. 13.Hood perfect 14.Engine runs ok,Has some blowby.....Somewhat rare head castings 15.Works feels very very tired.Dosen't leak.Maybe slighty at the pump because damn near all of them do. 16.Title is clean/clear Ok,I just randomly listed what came off the top of my head.I'm sure i left things out and possibly misrepresented something. Please bring to my attn and I will fix/explain.Im one of the very few people out there that appreciate constructive criticism.......With that said.I spent the first five years of my working life doing body and some paint professionally at a shop specializing in custom and classic work with a insurance production side also.So I know what im looking at and i've tried to portray this car as accurately as possible.
