Vehicle Detail

BMW 318i E30 convertible, 5-speed manual, 1.8L fuel-injected M42, 134 hp. Two-owner vehicle, has spent most of its life in southern Arizona, no rust. Drives very nicely and straight, shifts well and is a very comfortable car to ride in. Fun factor on mountainous roads is way up there too and we often get nice comments about the car. Interesting provenance for the vehicle based on CarFax and maintenance interval stamps: Original owner, Captain Kenneth Griffin of the U.S. Air Force, purchased the car in England, shipped it to the U.S. where he was stationed in Texas, New Mexico and then California, then shipped it back overseas to Germany where he had relocated to in the service. In 1999 the car was shipped again to the U.S. and the owner was reposted to southern Arizona. It has been with us in Tucson since the fall of 2001. 156,950 miles on the vehicle, have driven an average of 2,150 miles per year since we purchased the car. All original except for a color change in 2011 from original dark blue to BMW British Racing Green (my wife wanted a new color). Exterior, door jambs, inside hood, and trunk were painted in the new color. Driven by my wife, who's a school teacher, to and from work and some day trips in countryside.AC functions well, converted from R12 to R134-A in 2011. Last serviced May 2017 and blows at 50 degrees. Convertible top is original and functions well Clean carfax, no accidents Current condition items: Dash has one main crack and some smaller cracks Rear vinyl window has some hazing Very slight oil seepage around front crankshaft seal and oil pan gaskets. Our mechanic has indicated the slight seepage is not a concern and the vehicle uses very little oil. Rear center brake light lens cover has small cracks on edges Some window seals are worn Driver and passenger seat back adjusters not working correctly (seats will slide forward and back and the seat backs will fold forward. Seats will also tip back and forth.) Shifter boot has shrunk slightly Radio sometimes has static sound when turned on, otherwise works quite well including 6-CD changer Right side passenger chrome trim at window has small ding Recent (approx 3-year) parts and service totaling $7,744: Odometer replaced April 2015 Brake rotors resurfaced and brake pads replaced June 2015 (have put 5,800 miles on the car since then) Battery replaced September 2015 Fuel injectors cleaned and spark plugs replaced January 2016 New tires front and rear December 2016 (Michelin Defenders, have 1,900 miles on them) New fuel pump March 2017 New blower motor August 2017 New water pump October 2017 Brake reservoir replaced October 2017 Control arms replaced December 2017 New struts and mounts December 2017 Replaced rear CV boots December 2017 Drive belts replaced December 2017 New driver's side door lock December 2017 Oil changed December 2017 Extras: 6-CD changer in trunk Car cover
