Up for auction is this super sexy 1971 VW Karmann Ghia~ Desert Beauty~~~  Bought in California new, motor stroked at around 5000 miles from 1835 cc's, stroked to 1900cc's.  This was done in the 70s.  Dual port, polished cam.  Everything else is pretty much untouched.  The car has absolutely no accidents,  no bondo whatsoever.  No rust, only lived in California in Mojave desert and in southern Arizona.  Estimated only 10000 miles on this vehicle.  :)  ~  3 owners, first a lady who sold to 2nd owner in 70s, 2nd owner sold to his nephew in 2010, clean title.  Car was stored since 1979.  The car was stored in a garage for the first half of the storage period, and outside in desert under a tarp until nephew acquired the car in 2010.  Runs really well.  Sounds pretty.  The car does have a few minor surface scratches from storage, nothing major.  There is a minor brake fluid leak, can be fixed fairly cheaply.   All upholstery is original, a few tears on seats in front but back upholstery is nearly perfect especially taking into consideration the age of vehicle.  The dashboard area is also worn, the original material was not wood but rather a hardened type of cardboard.  There are kits to replace the aged board.  This car will make a wonderful restoration project, small or large, it won't take a lot to get it looking super pretty again and it would be wonderful base car to get it completely restored.  The original manual for vehicle and all paperwork owner has will be included in sale too~ :)  Additional pictures available to interested buyers.   *** Additional information added through communication with prospective buyer~ Mileage/Odometer~ As stated above, there has been 3 owners, first the lady who bought vehicle new and it was sold to the current seller's uncle in the 70s as he is a big VW buggy fan but loved the Ghia too. The uncle however, is very obese and he could not fit into car and thus stored car for years thinking he would lose weight and sadly never did. Finally in 2010 the nephew who is the current seller convinced his uncle to sell him the vehicle as uncle is now elderly and still too obese to fit in car. The nephew loved that car his whole life visiting the uncle and knowing it was garaged and not being driven, he wanted to restore it for him but he has a young son and just didn't have the time and now he is ready to part with it. When he got it in 2010 it was stored and still not driven at all until 2014 and stored under tarp but outside in AZ. Also, the interior dryed out seats and dash area shown that is definitely from AZ, that is all the desert does to cars is destroy vinyl and dry out plastic. That is why there are military plane boneyards here, the desert is a great preservation place. It took him little work to get it running as it was stored since the 70s in a garage in California, however the odometer stopped rolling shortly after he got it running so the odometer has not worked since 2014.   Nephew/current owner says he doubts very much he has even come close to driving it 5000 miles since he got it running in 2014 as like I mentioned, he only drove it short spurts to keep it maintained and fresh and that is current condition now too by the way.
