Vehicle Detail
We are selling our TR7 California Spider 109K Miles. It is 1 of 548 that had a factory Bosch-L port fuel injection system. We bought it back in 2005 from a fellow in Oregon. The engine has been rebuilt (gaskets and timing chain); exhaust replaced; front brakes replaced with ceramic pads and cross drill & slotted disc rotors; A/C compressor replaced and A/C system converted to R134; new engine and transmission mounts; oil filter converted to a standard spin on filter vs the original cartridge type; car was repainted in 2006; clutch cylinder replaced; master brake cylinder replaced; seats are from an Acura Integra (many way adjustable, very comfy); radiator fan converted to electric; all interior and exterior light bulbs replaced; rear tail lamps & reverse lamps converted to LED; headlamps updated to Halogen type; instrument cluster lamps updated with 5000Hr Halogen bulbs; clock works correctly; alternator changed to 110Amp Bosch unit; radiator replaced; carpet kit from Rimmer Brothers in UK; lots of replacement trim parts from S&S in UK; the tires were replaced new in 2005 and have 2000 miles on them; new front bumper; front springs (Moss Motors) and all shocks/struts. Most of the above repair work was done by English Motors in Shelby Twp (he has now retired and his shop is closed). I just replaced the injectors and their seals (1 injector developed a body crack and was squirting fuel sideways). Known Minor defects: -----------------------------Ø vinyl convertible top's rear window is fogging up from age (I drive the car with the top down) Ø the trunk lock doesn’t lock (it latches closed)(I have a new lock for it but have never installed it) Ø paint cracking or peeling off at the fuel fill cap, and at the front center bulge on the engine hood Ø there is a small scratch in the paint to the right of the front Triumph wreath logo Ø the clear coat on the wheels is getting spider web like cracking at the rimsØ I have a replacement center arm rest compartment lid, it is not installed in the photos Ø both windows cranks sometimes slip and the windows don't move (alignment issue), the windows do move if I pull up or push down them (window crank gear is not meshing with the lift gear).. sometimes the gears mesh and windows move normally .. (Jekyll and Hyde kind of thing... one time it works, 30 seconds later it doesn't, then it later does...) The A/C clutch engages, and works to put out cold air.. but I don't use it. Heater works. All gauges and the clock works. The car has a detachable face Clarion CD radio/player. The car gives me about 30 Miles/gallon in mixed city and hi-way driving. The engine produces about 90HP, and the car has a top speed of about 95MPH. There is no warranty, the vehicle is sold "AS IS". The buyer is responsible for pick up, and/or shipping to where ever they live. Buyer is responsible for sending $250 via PayPal as initial deposit. Balance is due in 10 days. When check clears, the title will be sent out to the buyer. Inter bank transfer is OK also, should go quicker and would be easier for non US buyers. If you have questions, please ask. Our email address is greglori_mi@wowway.com or ask through eBay's Contact Seller. WARNING1: Before bidding, please contact your insurance company, local government vehicle offices to determine additional costs, taxes, importing fees of buying this or any car. The buyer is responsible for paying all taxes, fees, transporting carrier costs, etc. to where ever they live.WARNING2: I am 6 foot 1 inch tall and 250 lbs, if you are bigger or taller than me, don't buy this car...you probably will not fit or will find it difficult to get in/out of the car when the roof is in the up position. Ebay is not posting my responses to people questions... here was one response...Thanks about the car. Additional parts, I do have spare window lift mechanisms that will sell with vehicle, TR7 parts book and repair manual. All weather striping has been replaced. Tires are almost new, 2000 miles on them... should last another 40K miles or better. I did not clean or wipe them before taking the photos. Parts are yes easy to come by S&S at http://www.ss-preparations.co.uk/ is great for parts. Like other English cars, parts are shared by other English cars. For engine parts, Saab 99, Saab Sonnet, Peugot 202, Fiat X1/9, MG, etc. Like many old cars, the art is learning what the "other cars" that have common parts... and Pep Boys does have parts (the set of injectors I just replaced were from Pep Boys, since one the of theirs failed, the new set I just installed came from a small store in Chicago I found on eBay). Door handle are same a Lotus Esprit and GM Opel. The car, and me, are located 35 miles north of Detroit in Michigan USA. We are in the south east corner of the state or province in USA that looks like a left hand child's mitten glove, our left hand is our personal map of our state. Ethanol gas... I don't run E85 in any vehicle I have. I think some of our fuel has 5% ethanol and have experienced no problems... I typically run 91 to 93 octane "Premium" fuel in the TR7. I have run 87 Octane but feel the engine runs nicer on 92. It uses 20W-50 oil. There are a very few gas stations that sell 104 octane, but I have never tried it... and consider that for the 1960s era high compression super charged engines who want to get 800 HP out of their 7.5L engines (aka. overkill). Another person question was whats wrong with the hood in Photo#4? Its the reflection of the trees in the back ground that are in Photo#2. The white dot on the front left corned of the hood is a reflection of the sun... it was a thick, cloudy day here in Michigan last week Another person question was dealing with spare tire and jack, I add trunk wheel well photo Yes, there is a spare tire in the trunk. All 4 tires plus spare are brand=National P185/70R13 and size. Yes I have the jack for the TR7, Shown in photo and half circle particle board wheel cover..
