OK, RIGHT TO THE POINT, THE REAL 138 CODE DEAL: A VERY STRAIGHT, VERY SOLID, ORIGINAL AS ORDERED: 1966 CHEVELLE SUPER SPORT CONVERTIBLE, SS PACKAGE 396 V8, FACTORY 4 SPEED, POSI 12 BOLT REAR END, DASH TAC, REAR ANTENNA, BUCKET SEATS, DELUXE SEAT BELTS, RED LINE TIRES, POWER STEERING, PADDED DASH, POWER CONVERTIBLE WHITE TOP. THE CAR WAS SERVICED LOCALLY AND THE LOCAL MECHANIC IN THE 70'S AT SOME POINT STOLE THE FACTORY ORIGINAL 396 ENGINE BLOCK AND PUT IN A 'REPLACEMANT 454' BLOCK WITHOUT THE OWNERS PERMISSION, OR KNOWLEDGE. THIS LED TO A LONG DISPUTE AND LEGAL ISSUE AFTER THE OWNER FINALLY FOUND OUT WHY HIS "396 PEP" WAS GONE! ...AND FINALLY THE ORIGINAL BLOWN RACE CAR MECHANICS 396 STOLEN ENGINE WAS LOCATED AND THE RESTITUTION WAS PAID FOR THE COMPROMISED 454 MOTOR. THE 454 BLOCK WAS REMOVED IN THE LATE 70'S AND THE CURRENT MOTOR IS NOW THE "AS SHOWN 327 V8 DOUBLE HUMP 1967 BLOCK". THE MOTOR TURNS FREELY AND WE ARE CURRENTLY GETTING IT READY TO FIRE. BEING SOLD "AS -IS" RIGHT NOW, A NON-RUNNING VEHICLE, THE REST OF THE DRIVETRAIN IS ALL ORIGINAL, BRAKES ARE LIKE NEW- IN THE PADS AND THE CAR OVERALL IS SHOWING VERY GOOD CARE. ALL THE DRIVETRAIN FROM TRANSMISSION BACK IS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR. POWER STEERING IS TIGHT, REAR END IS CLEAN NO LEAKS, SPRINGS HAVE TAPE TABS STILL IN PLACE, ORIGINAL SHOCKS WE BELIEVE. TIRES ARE THE NICE BIAS PLY ORIGINAL RED LINES FROM FIRESTONE, WIDE -O- OVALS G-70-14'S, GOOD TREAD LEFT 55% NO DRY ROT, NOT SURE OF PRODUCTION DATES.CHROME IS NICE DRIVER QUALITY ORIGINAL, POT METAL EXCELLENT, ALL SIDE GLASS EXCELLENT WITH TIGHT FIT AND ALIGNMENTS! DOOR SHUT NICE, KEYS FIT ALL GOOD, FRONT TINTED GLASS IS CRACKED ON PASSENGER SIDE! BLACK PADDED DASH IS PERFECT NO CRACKS! ALL GAUGES IN PLACE, DASH TAC IN PLACE, 4 SPEED IN PLACE WITH CLOCK AND GEAR DIA. ON THE FLOOR COUNSOLVERY MINIMAL RUST ON THE CAR, THE REAR BODY MOUNTS AT TRUNK REAR WELL NEED REPLACED, VERY ISOLATED, THE TRUNK PAN CAN BE 1/2 SAVED BUT HAS SOME HOLES TO THE DRIVERS SIDE AREA, THIS WAS DUE TO THE DUMB RUBBER MAT SURFACE STUFF. THE FRONT DRIVERS FENDER BEHIND THE LOWER TAB AT THE FRONT ROCKER MOLDING HAS A SMALL HOLE ALSO. ALL SHEET METAL IS ORIGNAL, VERY NICE DOORS AND 1/4'S! WITH EXCEPTION OF THE FRONT PASSENGER FENDER, ALL METAL IS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR, THIS FENDER WAS REPLACED IN 1968/9 WITH A FACTORY 66 FENDER AND REPAINTED ALONG WITH THE TRUNK LID REPAINTED DUE TO A DING IN THE CENTER OF THE TRUNK, NOTHING BIG JUST A DING. ALL PAINT HAS NOW PATINA'D TO THE CURRENT STATE. THAT'S IT, ALL ORIGINAL OTHER THAN THAT, AS WE COULD NOT FIND ANY BODY WORK, OR BONDO, ANYWHERE ON THE CAR.IMPORTANT NOTE: THE PROTECT-O-PLATE HAS THE CORRECT ENGINE CODE 396 HEAD PAD STAMP TO LOCATE A MATCHING 1966 BLOCK WITH A LATE MARCH 66, EARLY APRIL 66 BUILD DATE. JUST PUT A 396 BLOCK PRODUCTION BACK INTO THE CAR TO HAVE IT A 100% MATCHING NUMBER CAR ONCE AGAIN WITH A RESTAMPED AUTHENTIC HEAD CODE. THE CURRENT 327 V8 SHOULD BE A GOOD ENGINE AND IT WAS DRIVEN TILL STORED IN 1980. THE CAR SPEAKS FOR ITSELF AND IT IS THE REAL DEAL.
