Original 1958 VW Fiberglass Dune Buggy Classic 70's Orange Metal Flake Half Truck & Half BuggyIt is a TRUGGY! NO RESERVE The 1958 Truggy was built in Alameda California at by Archie Lee Rundle who worded at the Alameda Fiberglass that manufactured fiberglass dune buggys. Archie Lee Rundle was born Christmas day 1916 and was an Alameda resident. Archie was a World War II veteran. One of his greatest interests in life were building and flying airplanes. In 1938, he was certified as a member of the OX5 Aviation Pioneers for participating in the design, construction and operation of the powered aircraft prior to the 1940s. Another memorable accomplishment was that he knew Amelia Earhart and they flew together in Oakland, CA in the 1930?s. Archie actually passed this year 2017 at 100 years old. The 1958 VW Truggy was first built and registered in May 16, 1977 which we still have the original registration card in its old school visor clip holder and other original documents. Archie set the buggy up to be towed behind a motorhome with its built in wiring plug at the front of the Truggy. Archie?s Truggy was sold at an estate sale when he could no longer use it back in 2010 and was registered to new owner. New owner paid for a ?NON-OP? which is Non Operational Vehicle, which paper work is there but not sure which is who but licenses plate and vin numbers match. We even have the old school sun visor pocket holder with paper work when first built, really cool. We acquired it to restore but need the room and are selling some of our vehicle inventory, The name Truggy is from combining a Truck & a Buggy = Truggy! There are others out there but this Truggy is one of the best designs since it has a VW pancake flat motor for the truck bed can be used while most all others have a hump for the up-right fan shroud which makes their beds pretty much useless. There are many combinations of motors that can fit from economical standard VW Type 3 squareback, notchback or fastback engine which it has now, but modified for increased power but is economical because all internal parts are VW bug. VW Type 4 Bus or Porsche 914 or Corvair motor for increased torque will bolt right into the transmission and clear body, Details of the Truggy Chassis or belly pan is an original 1958 VW bug chassis which was shortened but left front end length for better handling. Truggy was registered as a 1959. · Chassis or belly pan has no rust and was modified correctly no back yard welder. Interior · Dash is complete · Original VW gas gauge (which in 1958 VW did not have a gauge) · Original VW headlight switch · Original VW speedometer · Original VW Turn signal arm assembly wired · Original VW Shifter · Original VW Shift Knob · Original VW pedal assembly · New old school black and chrome Moon style steering wheel and horn assembly · Wiper switch · New ignition switch with 2 keys · Best of all an old school AM radio, all there and had been working · Complete wiper assembly all there and was working · Wiring looks good · Front diamond tuck & roll hi-back seats · Front seats lift ups to get behind seat for storage and battery. · Front seat belts mounted for driver and passenger Chassis · Fiberglass is in beautiful condition since it was strictly used for running around town NEVER off-roaded. You can tell by the pictures showing underneath and behind the outside how clean the inside of the fiberglass is in quality and condition. · The orange fiberglass is original and has never been painted or repaired, but is starting to fade some, but we have never polished or buffed it out just washed it. · The black top is bolted on which can be removed, which we were going to add an old school loop roll bar and have the top quick release for fast removal. Which was going to be covered in black top vinyl. · New headlight buckets · New H4 Halogen headlight bulbs · Old school Ford Mustang Taillight lenses, rings, and bulb buckets · Yes those are some old school Custom Crager chrome rims front and back that need a good clean and polishing · Has front trailer hook up plug for towing · Vehicle was converted from original 6 volt to 12 volt · Old school flip top gas door mounted on front hood · Front 1970?s style blinkers mounted on front fenders · Had 1970?s style outside mirrors mounted which we have them both but one is good other is missing the top which they still sell if wanted, We wanted to go with mirrors coming off the windshield posts. · Front bumper and brackets are sturdy which looks to have come off an early Ford Bronco and great for towing behind a motor home or truck. We had plans to go to the more simple and stylish Buggy bars which we have for front and back if interested. · Front suspension is all VW link pin and king pin which is actually still in good condition. Which it can be left alone for an old classic look, or lifted for an off road look or lowered for a racer its VW is cheap and easy to do. · Rear suspension is swing axle and complete and in actually still good condition. We got the Truggy on a trade deal and had plans to do it up for advertisement since it gets lots of looks from everyone and you can actually use it to haul things around like a little truck. We have not worked on any mechanical work for the Truggy since we had plans for a 1776cc or 1915cc Performance motor all chromed out, so vehicle will need to be gone over since it has been sitting for a long time. We wanted to add some little teak wooden strips inside the bed liner rails to protect the glass and look cool and maybe a little teak wooden sides with the Racoon?s tail we bought for it on an old school whip antenna.
