Vehicle Detail
Please read the whole listing. This is a 32 year old car and I encourage you to come by in person to check it out to make sure it is what you are looking for. My wife and I are "thinning the herd" and based on seniority of the cool cars we own, this is the first one I am listing, with about ("sigh!") five more to come, the oldest one being a 1967 Commodore A. Old age is catching up with me and the cars... I digress... The Benz is roadworthy, and we'll have its inspection renewed this week. Selling our trusty 1985 Mercedes 300CD Diesel Coupe, w123 body. Asking $2,300. Gold metallic over Palamino MB Tex. Runs great. We get 25mpg in town and 30mpg on the interstate. It is such a pleasure to drive on the interstate - you can cruise comfortably all day. Doesn't use any oil between changes, no blow-by: You can loosen the filler cap and start the engine, and there is no pressure build-up to make it dance or lift it off. Transmission shifts well, but sometimes seems to shift again into second when accelerating - might be vacuum? It is a daily driver, that is economical and reliable, with everything working except the ac. We never bothered to address it, because it has such a comfortable, light interior and big windows to open up (rear windows come down only half way), as well as the sunroof, that operates flawlessly and doesn't leak when closed. Tires are about 12k miles old, and have good tread left. New rear brakes, and various new vacuum lines. Comes with two brand new Bosch injectors that I carry around as spares, but we never needed them, as well as couple other little bits as spares. It has the block heater, which works well when temperatures are in the single digits. It always starts, and has never failed to do so since we owned it. Interior is in ok shape for daily use, exterior has a some slight marks of hail (or walnuts?) in places, clear coat is peeling from the narrow panel in front of the windshield, and the usual rust around the edges for an East coast car plus some patches on the floor pan (behind passenger seat). Passenger door was brush-painted by the previous owner. We call it our our "Door In Gold, in the style of Klimt". We drive it all year round, and it is great in snow! Reason for selling: We got nine cars (mainly grey import Opel Commodores and Rekords) and are determined to thin the herd to three or four only. Very hard to do, since we love them all :-/. Within the last 12 months we did the following: Replace passenger side front wheel bearings, New brake master cylinder, Fix parking brake, New rear brake pads, New vacuum lines in engine compartment, Regular oil & filter changes. No buyers from outside of the continental US! I don't know how to change that detail at the beginning of the listing under "shipping". Thank you for looking :-)
