1971 JAWA “Bison”, based on the Jawa “banana frame” racer. It runs great, was serviced with new brakes, wheel bearing repack, etc. not long ago. Comes with clear title, ready to ride. The number in this country can be counted on one hand. It is rare (anywhere), and located in Colorado. Comes with spare engine and original fenders, as well as service manual (in Czech). It is the buyer’s responsibility to arrange shipping, TO INCLUDE spare motor and fenders. Most engine parts interchange with Jawa 634. I only know of about 4-5 in the USA. This is a very rare, and exotic machine. Jawa was attempting to advance its designs based on the successful racing "Banana frame" machines, both off road and for GP. The reason very few were produced, and none sent beyond the borders was that buyers of standard Jawas wanted an inexpensive, conservatively-designed but bulletproof-reliable bike. This they got with the 354-360-362 series. Shortly thereafter the slightly modernized, but more traditionally-designed 634 frame design was used, providing a newer, but more appealingly conservative design. The 633 was far too radical for traditional Jawa buyers. Jawa essentially took the Bison motor design and dropped it into the 634 frame (with new heads) and used up the Bison heads on the Californians. The forks, frame, body castings, airbox, gas tank, seat and many miscellaneous pieces including the inner engine cases are unique to the Bison, and no other. Jawa was already applying their plastic expertise to select body paneling and that unique headlight structure, saving weight. Even the headlight glass is concave! It was very advanced, but too much so for the average buyer. This is not atypical for MANY manufacturers that step too far out for their clientele's conservative tastes.
