Vehicle Detail

1968 Mustang Fastback. Originally a California car. The car has pretty cool options. The outside was originally blue. You can see that in the jambs and trunk. It has power steering. Tilt/ tilt away steering column, automatic transmission, very rare bench seat and air condition. The a/c unit is not on the motor and I don't have it. The car was brought east from California in 1986 and sold at spring Carlisle. The new owner used the car daily until 1990. During the time he was driving it daily, he had the motor pulled out and had a freshly rebuilt 302 installed with some minor performance upgrades, like headers, intake and 4 barrel carb. He said the motor had 40,000 miles on it when he stopped driving the car. His plan was to take the car apart and restore it. He took it apart in his garage at home and sanded all the paint off the outside of the car. He did some amateur bodywork and primed it with a spray can. When I bought it last year I picked it up with a tow truck and took many boxes of parts that he had taken off the car with me. Since that time I have redone the interior of the car the correct color parchment. I bought the complete interior kit from CJ mustang parts. I still have the old fabric if you would like it. I sanded off the spray can primer from the outside of the car. I re-primed it, and painted it low gloss black. I like that look. I also had the transmission rebuild, installed a new Holly carburetor, new alternator, new voltage regulator, new battery, new power steering pump, new steering valve, new master cylinder, and I am sure I have forgotten something else that I have done over the course of the year. The car runs and drives nicely. I am sure it will need some fine tuning, but I am very happy with the way it runs, drives and performs! The body of this car is very solid, from spending most of its life out west. I took pictures of the floors, because I could not believe how nice they were. Even the paint on them was nice. I have the original air cleaner, grille molding, steering wheel ( very cracked from the California heat), 2 hub caps, and two of the original steel wheels. If you don't want the slotted mags I can put the steel wheels back on. I think it looks cool just the way it is. I have done my best to describe this car. If you have questions, please ask early in the auction so I have time to get back to you. I usually check my emails in the morning. Shipping is the new buyer responsibility. I can store the car, until you make the payment and arrange shipping.
