1971 HONDA SL350 PROJECTCLASSIC DUAL SPORT COLLECTOR BIKE PROJECTNO RESERVE - YOU BID, YOU WIN! This is the last of my project motorcycles, I no longer have the time or energy to take on or finish old bike projects, so it's got to go. I obtained it reasonably complete and rolling, but I've disassembled it for restoration. It has classic top end wear and needs a total overhaul, the seat was covered with a t-shirt, fenders were repainted, sidecovers were missing, and it had cheap mufflers. I also obtained a set of decent sidecovers, so the bike is basically all there. ENGINE: Complete, needing total overhaul. The kickstarter was loose on the shaft, so needs attention there, also the kickstart ratchet/return was "iffy". Engine did have decent compression, but will need new pistons & rings. Clutch is missing one plain plate, unless the stack was last installed incorrectly (2 friction plates were together). I found excess red RTV sealant everywhere, including inside the oil pickup screen and the slinger trap, also a little bit of rusty water. Otherwise, everything seemed in fair shape, no obviously bent/broken parts, no broken fins. Cylinders still show a nice crosshatch, pistons are not excessively scuffed; actually quite decent. INTAKE & EXHAUST: Carbs are in good shape, but will need total overhaul. NO AIR FILTERS. I obtained a set of carefully cut open mufflers from a guy that intended to start making pattern copies, as they are no longer made. Exhaust is as shown in photo, parts laid out on shop floor. CHASSIS: I stripped the bike down to the bare chassis and did some minor repairs on the rear engine mount tabs (reinforcing plates), then painted the frame and swingarm with Rust-O-Leum silver spray paint. Fork yoke and sidestand are still rough/rusty (just surface rust, nothing major). SUSPENSION: Fork stanchion tubes are in fair shape, just surface rust on the top part under the headlight mounts; operationally, they are decent. Original rear shocks still work but are very rusty. I temporarily installed a nice set of Marzocchi reservoir shocks, but they need kits installed. Swingarm is lubed. Will include both sets of shocks, the Marzocchis are worth some money. WHEELS, BRAKES & TIRES:W All original stuff, all in good condition except tires. Rims are in good shape, no dings, no significant rust, no missing spokes. Needs new tires and tubes, but original tires stiff have tread if you want them for originality. Brakes have a fair amount of shoe material left, and drums are not excessively worn or gouged. Rear drive sprocket is in good condition, chain is rusty. BODYWORK: Tank is in very nice shape, original SL blue, but does have one ding; easy to see in the photos (left side, rear, just below the white stripe). Fenders are fair, repainted. Sidecovers were bought on ebay, mismatched, one is cracked (easy to spot in photo). I will include a set of "350" stickers for the sidecovers (if I can find tghem, I bought them on ebay). Seat pan and foam are in fair shape, no seat cover (readily available on ebay). Headlight ears, headlight shell (original SL blue paint), and chainguard are good. CONTROLS, LEVERS, CABLES, PEDALS & MISCELLANEOUS: All original stuff in fair shape, all cables worked but are old and cracked. Typical dulling and surface rust on everything. All pedal rubbers and frame buffers need replacing. A few screws, bolts, washers & nuts are missing, nothing major. ELECTRICAL & LIGHTING, METERS: Condition unknown, although there does NOT appear to be any evidence of burned/shorted wires or components. Lenses are in good shape. NO BATTERY. There is some evidence of wiring modification. Meters appear to be in good shape, not excessively sunburned. Unknown whether they work. Mileage unverified. I have approximately 50 more photos of the complete disassembly, and will provide them to interested bidders on request. DOCUMENTATION - Bill Of Sale only.SHIPPING - BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY. I can re-assemble it to rolling, with one large tote of engine parts, no additional charge (you will then need to dis-assemble it again to have everything correct for actual running/riding).BOTTOM LINEWhat you see is what you get.
