Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1968 Corvette in need of restoration. The car has sat in a barn for well over 20 years until I pulled it out last month. I have not even cleaned it except wiping down the interior. It did get dusted off from rain sitting out at my local mechanic's shop. The 327 engine is the numbers matching motor that the car came from the factory with. After a carb rebuild and a new gas tank, it came to life! Motor starts and sounds great with no ticking or any knocking of any sort! Transmission shifts and can lot drive but it has no brakes. I am by no means a Corvette guru, so found that it has a later 70'-72' front end after purchasing. I do believe this is a great candidate for restoration being a numbers matching chrome bumper car, however my wife believes that it should be someone else's project.... so here we are. The car is currently at my local mechanic's shop 10 miles from my house. He said he would allow anyone to come for a personal inspection and that he would help answer any questions regarding the car. He is also willing to help load it for shipping. Please message me for questions or additional pictures and I will tell you all I know about the car. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. On Aug-11-17 at 13:24:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I just received the following additional information from a very nice gentleman that seems to know much more about the car than I: Wanted to tell you that this is a very early 68 coupe, and that the earliest ones were in the late 7500 serial number range, perhaps a week or two before this car. Production on the coupe started very late, so this was probably the first one at its dealership. It's colors are interesting, a silver exterior and gunmetal vinyl interior. This is a rare combination. It's also very beautiful. While the front clip is incorrect, and mild customization has taken place, the original engine and its unique color make it a candidate for a restoration. Good luck, it's a very interesting car.
