Vehicle Detail
I am relisting this fun little bike, because nobody bought it the first time it was offered up for sale. In 1974, and only in 1974, Honda put out its scrambler line, and introduced the 200. The CL200 was built for the one model year only, and was offered in one color, blue. It is commonly believed among Honda enthusiasts that 1974 marked the end of Honda's focus on small displacement motorbikes. This 200 is not much faster, if at all, than the CL175's I have ridden. It is however, noticeably quicker. Which is pretty important if you plan to ride on city streets, and are going to find yourself merging into, and out of traffic. This little guy made the journey from Iowa to California, sporting a three foot tall sissy bar, some pretty raunchy tires, leaky fork seals, a cracked air filter cover, and a rotted out muffler. With over 7700 miles on the odometer, somebody had ridden him, but it had been a while. First thing, that sissy bar was cut, bent with an electrical emt bender, ends were capped, and a Honda CT90 rack was bolted on to it. A new set of Shinko SR241 tires, new inner tubes and rim bands were put on his very respectable looking rims. New fork seals and fluid were installed. Fuel tank was removed and cleaned, the fuel petcock was rebuilt. The stock air filters were rebuilt and the cracked cover was reinforced with fiberglass on the inside. A new ignition coil, spark plugs, plug wires and caps were installed to accompany the new breakerless ignition kit. NO POINTS TO EVER HAVE TO ADJUST OR REPLACE. Installed a new sealed maintenance free battery. The stock carburators were replaced with after market carbs. the rotted out muffler was patched up with welded in panels and skip trowlled with a two part epoxy. looked okay, not great, good enough to run, but I didn't have to use it. Found a complete exhaust system from a CL175 that bolted right up, and looks great. The bike runs really well. With my 225 lbs on it, it loves to cruise at 45-50 mph, it will give me 50-55 when I make it, and I've hit 65 a few times, with a tail wind. Bike is stable at all speeds, corners well, stops well. Perfect first bike for a new rider. The stock carburators, the patched up exhaust system, a new set of rear break shoes, and a couple of other knick knacks I removed come with the bike. The opening bid, is my reserve. I would like a three hundred dollar deposit at the close of the auction and the rest paid with a cashiers check, prior to pick up, or cash on pick up. I would like to be paid in full within ten days of the close of auction. I will help load the bike onto a shippers rig. I can suggest a shipper I've used more than once and have been happy with. I would consider delivering the bike personally, for a fee, in the state of California, in the back of an uncovered F350. Bike is for sale locally. Auction may end early. Serious offers will be considered.Thank you for your interest. I will be attending the So-Cal cycle Swap Meet in Long Beach Ca. on Sunday 7/30/17. I will deliver the bike free of charge to anyplace along my route. Or, I can take it to the swap meet, and you can pick it up there.
