Vehicle Detail
*I am meeting with a BMW enthusiast later this week who claims to have a headlight and signals, will update if I get them! Up for auction is a 1976 BMW R90/6 with 24,271 miles, clear TN title and matching numbers frame/motor. The bike cold starts immediately and runs very smoothly. This bike came along with a K100 that I made a "package deal" for, but ended up falling in love with the K100 over this one. The bike had been professionally tuned by a BMW mechanic just prior to going into storage for several years, which I firmly believe based on how extremely clean the inside of the carbs were and how, after a carb clean and fresh gas and new battery, it immediately started. This bike would be superb for any use - ride immediately as is, restore easily, customize without feeling too guilty.. it's condition is right in the middle! It had a Vetter fairing included which used to be installed, hence the missing headlight and signals - I am trying to find replacements for these currently. I'll list the good/bad: Good:Runs great! Clear title, low miles, matching #'sTires have good tread, unsure of age but appear and ride greatPipes only have light surface rust on inner (tire side) walls, not rot within, on bottom or anything like thatNew air cleaner elementCarbs and all intake elements 100% cleaned - I never even attempt to start a bike until all of these elements are completely inspected, cleaned and with nothing but fresh new gas!Brakes work good (...for one of the first bikes to ever have disk brakes at least)Dash lights work, as does tail/brake (cannot affirm the other lights)Comes with rear rack/Krauser panniersComes with chrome bash guards - not pictured, a bit rusty though Bad:General frame paint wear, some corrosion in chrome parts, just generally an older bike with some visible miles on itIt seems to smoke a very small bit from the right side pipe. Valve adjustment? Two somewhat significant dents in the left hand side of tank. I believe could be worked out. Can't really tell if inside of tank has been painted maroon, whether that's stock, or whether it has light surface rust? It wipes like paint..Unless you want to reattach a Vetter fairing, it's got a Vetter attachment plug plumbed in that needs to be removed Neither here nor there:Lester wheels installedBilstein rear shocksVoltage and Clock meters are gone, but these were add-ons anyway from what I understandPeriod/accurate touring seat - very comfortable!New AGM - general purpose - battery installed. Correct voltage etc. but not technically a transportation battery. It will last plenty long enough if cared for, but is new so you have a long time to go with it I really feel like this is a great bike that can really go in any direction - a ride it home bike or a perfect project bike. I require a down deposit of $100 from Paypal, but I do NOT want full payment across Paypal unless you add the fees on top so that I am not at a loss. Please feel free to call 865-548-6002 if you have any questions or would like to see the bike in person. I would sell locally as well. If you need shipping, I am happy to help a shipper, and I will gladly transport the bike a short distance for free or longer (surrounding states) for an agreed price. I am pretty much free all summer. Thanks for looking!!
