Vehicle Description: 2001 Honda Odyssey: This is the first year of the newer model. I am the original owner, my wife drove this vehicle and kept it really clean, and it has been well maintained and a very reliable vehicle through the years. It has 194,000 miles on it. At about 85,000 miles, the transmission began slipping some. Not a lot, but some. We never fixed it, and it has continued to run like that for the last 10 years and 110,000 miles. With work, I think it could be a reliable vehicle, or, it can be a parts vehicle. The Good: The engine really runs well – still smooth – starts right up. I think the engine will last a very long time. Best engine I have ever owned. Generally, the interior, including the middle and rear seats are in very good condition and the leather and interior panels look very good. Overall, the van started up and drove every day up to a year ago when my wife purchased a 2016 new Honda CRV. The exterior is overall pretty good, but there is paint fading and a scratch on rear bumper. The Bad: It’s 16 years old. This is not a vehicle that will go to inspection and pass as it stands. Its paint is fading, the front seat is torn up, the transmission slips a bit, both automatic doors work sometimes, sometimes they need manual help to close all the way, from the sound of it, the exhaust is getting slightly louder, so there is something going on with the muffler, there is a slow leak in one of the tires, the air/heater controls work, but the blower knobs are kind of stripped so you have to play with them to get them to work right. Overall, I would not feel comfortable letting my kid drive it – not so much that its unsafe, but there are a lot of little things going on. For me, its fine because it always ran really well.
