Vehicle Detail

Condition: The bike is in solid working condition, with good brakes (though the ABS does not work), battery and tires (purchased in the last few years, with less than 4000 miles on one, less than 1000 on the other), and it always starts easily. It's been serviced regularly at Motorcycle Works in Brooklyn by Tom, a BMW fanatic, and I can send full records. If I were keeping the bike, I would replace the rear shocks. I have never dropped this bike, but it has dings scratches, a rip in the seat and it's had some body work. History: I purchased this bike in 2012 with about 18K miles on it, and I am the third owner. I love k75s's, and I found one 300 miles away. I asked a friend near the bike to view it for me, and make the purchase "if it was in good condition." I did not clarify what that meant... The friend (who's still a friend but whom I'd never ask to do this again!) did not inspect it closely, or ask many questions. He purchased it with my upper limit of $4000 (which would have been too high even for that bike in perfect condition). Upon getting up there to pick the bike up, I discovered it has signs of having been in an accident, and needed lots of work. After a first round of repairs and inspection at Motorcycle works, it seems it took a fall on the right side. The brake handle has been "sanded" a bit; the steering stop was sheered off; the drip pan fairing has been repaired with molding and repainted; one of the hard cases has been repaired; the rear wheel was a bit bent (it's been replaced); the kick-stand had been repaired in an odd way. Despite all that, I got the bike into good working condition and have maintained it well. I've put about 8K on the bike over 5 years, riding it a bit around the city, but mostly on weekend trips to the north. I have an affection for this bike, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. Ideally, you're an enthusiast looking for a good deal. That is full disclosure!
