I'd originally gone to southern Florida in 2007 looking for a rust-free vehicle. I bought this MX-5 with 66,000 miles just as a way to get back to NY. I thought I'd sell it as soon as I got back because I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. The vehicle spent no real time in Florida though because the dealer I bought it from had just picked it up at auction & it had a Connecticut title. Since my job keeps me away from home a fair amount, this car just sits indoors most of the time. I only put about 2000-3000 miles per year on it. It's often just used to run errands on the nicest summer days. The 'Buy It Now' price is still a great value with only 86,600 miles. It's hard to find a more fun car for this price. The 1.8L engine fires up every time & runs strong. The 5-speed transmission shifts very smoothly & has no issues.I replaced the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic fluid, battery & oxygen sensor last year. I changed the rear brake pads at 80,500 miles in 2013. Now for the bad news (see pictures): The air conditioning system worked the last time I used it. I've charged it twice over the years & it blows cold air for a while...until the refrigerant leaks out.There is the usual wear mark on the left side of the driver's seat back. All (4) tires are still in good condition & have good tread, but are the ones I bought it with. It always has & will still pass a New York State safety inspection. Still valid until the end of July 2017.There's a couple of slight push-dents. They've all been there since before I bought it.There's a crack in the instrument cluster that is also years old. I expected that I'd change it if it ever got bad, but it hasn't gotten any worse. I also chose not to use 'Buy It Now' & have no reserve on the price. On Apr-21-17 at 17:33:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the top and the undercarriage. I completely forgot about the top because I don't drive it if I need the top up. The vinyl itself is good. There's been little sun exposure to damage it. I always have it packed under the boot. The window is clear and unscratched, but it looks like someone may have cut the original one out & hand sewed another to the vinyl flap. The rear window will leak at the bottom in heavy rain or the car wash. I apologize for not mentioning it. I just don't use it unless its necessary. The undercarraige is relatively rust-free. There's some patches of surface rust on the heaviest welded parts of the frame & also the exhaust components. I've never touched the exhaust system since owning it.
