Vehicle Detail

A very nicely preserved TR6 Tiger with a beautiful patina, excellent mechanics and a history of care by true Triumph enthusiasts. Very good original and stock condition. Original paint with typical patina/low gloss associated with this green color (personally, I think this looks vastly more attractive than a repainted/restored finish). A little history: This beauty was acquired by the prior owner in early 2006 from Triumph specialist Randy Baxter (Baxter Cycle, Marne, Iowa) where it had been in his care. According to records, the bike was from Florida prior to Baxter Cycle. From Baxter Cycle, the TR6R then resided in the Las Vegas area (Boulder City) and was pampered by a very particular and meticulous classic vehicle enthusiast whom I know very well and trust tremendously. For the past several years, it has been in southwestern Pennsylvania where it has been owned by me, an owner of several vintage motorcycles and a board member of the Antique Motorcycle Foundation. A complete binder of service records back to Baxter Cycle are included, as are factory Owner's Handbook, Replacement Parts Catalogue and Workshop Manual. For those unfamiliar, the Tiger is the single-carburetor model (the Bonneville had twin carbs). That configuration makes it simpler, easier to tune and provides the distinction of delivering tremendous torque and surprising performance. Trust me, this bike is no slouch! The legendary twin delivers power through a smooth-shifting 4-speed transmission (right-side shift). The look alone is enough to draw you to this gem, but the incredible music it makes is what really stirs the soul. Tickle the single carb to get the juices flowing, swing the kickstarter through its motion and then burst into a smile as the classic parallel twin comes to life and settles into its characteristically lumpy idle. What meets the ears is a classic blend of a baritone melody and mechanical percussion that is nothing short of music from a bygone era. It's something you feel as much as hear. This Tiger has been recently updated with a Boyer electronic ignition to cope with today's gasoline (original points ignition included) and freshened with new front fork springs, seals, corks, fork oil and rubber gaiters. The bike has a fresh tune up, new plugs, air filter, fuel lines, battery, carburetor clean and set, valve adjustment, primary chain adjustment and oil change and has been gone over completely by classic Triumph specialist, restorer and respected Triumph competition judge Steve Collins of Collins Cycle in Sutersville, PA Flaws? Paint is worn on the rear fender at the rear grab rail. But to me, it's a little glimpse into the bike's history. One can just imagine the original owner strapping a sleeping bag or maybe a waxed-cotton jacket to the back of the bike and heading out on a road trip adventure. A few little scuffs add to the patina and character without appearing as flaws. Chrome is excellent and tires are like new. Everything about this bike is in good shape and is suitable for shows or for parking on a pedestal on display. But I highly recommend firing it up and enjoying a putt along some local back roads or down to the diner or coffee shop. Just be prepared to spend time talking with folks who want to know more about it or have their own stories of time they enjoyed on a Triumph like this back in the day.
