Vehicle Detail

This is the rarest of the last big Lincolns which were produced. It is the most elegant color combination and has all options. This car needs to be refinished by a professional. It also has some odds and ends which need addressing. DON'T bid on the car unless you are ok with a survivor and it's flaws or you understand it will take a significant investment to bring the car back to it's intended design beauty and function. Now I'll tell you about it's history and about the pro's and con's as honestly as I possibly can. My Grandfather purchased two of these cars at the same time in 1979. The car you are looking at spent a short period of time in Knoxville after it was purchased, it was then taken to central Florida where it stayed in a garage. The car was used lightly for a few months each winter when he stayed at his second home. The reason the paint is faded out on the hood and trunk has two reasons. 1st - The process of metallic two stage paint was in in its infancy. 2nd - He owned a golf course and the dark car was parked in the direct Florida sun while he golfed most days while in Florida. Then when a swift moving shower came, it cooled and wet the hood and trunk. This occurred many seasons. I am still amazed at how great the interior and top condition are. The car has less than 40,000 miles on it and is virtually untouched. The only repairs that I know of are the following. A new muffler - tires as needed - a radiator after my father drove it back from Florida about 5 years ago - and recently, front shocks, front pads, rear wheel cylinders, and a full bleed. Oh, and a new fan belt. The other minor issues, beyond the paint, are the following. It needs a full set of new tires. They have significant flat spots from being parked. It has just a few minor dents on about three trim pieces that, when the car is being painted, can be easily straightened before they are re-installed after the paint is complete. The six way power seats move forward and backward fine but the front and rear tilt functions do not. When the switches are pressed, current draw takes place so it's more than likely a lubrication that needs to be administered. The radio works but does not come out of the left side. This is more than likely a potentiometer in the radio that can be repaired for around 100 dollars. The fuel gage is not accurate. The problem is more than likely the float inside the fuel tank because the gauge only moves partially. The A/C freon is discharged because of a leak at the high side fitting. Lastly, it would probably be a good idea to do all belts and hoses before putting the car back into continual use. Whoever wins this auction, in my opinion, could drive this car from Knoxville to anywhere in the US if they first had new tires put on it first. THE FINAL PHOTO IS AN EXAMLE OF WHAT THE CAR LOOKS LIKE AFTER QUALITY PAINT.On Mar-03-17 at 08:35:28 PST, seller added the following information: Ebay won't let me replace some photos with different ones. I've had a lot of you ask for undercarriage pics and under hood. I'll try to get them to those that sent requests. I've had a lot of traffic and communication to navigate and I've been very busy with work. Good luck to everyone. On Mar-03-17 at 12:10:02 PST, seller added the following information: Oh one more thing about the car because I don't want negative feedback. The small drivers side vent window does not roll down properly. It moves away from the main window when it begins to go down so there is something loose or broken inside the door. Just a heads up. Like I said in my original post... It has tremendous potential for someone who will work thru the odds and ends that need to be done. It is a very nice car... solid, beautiful interior, smooth slick full vinyl top and it hasn't been worked on by 100 different people over it's life. It's had very little touched. A few grand spent on this car and, based on what I've seen, it would be worth 10-12k and more as time passes. There are other Lincolns out there but this one is different with the full top, moonroof and almost perfect leather. Thanks and good luck to all those interested.
