Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1978 Honda dedicated sidecar motorcycle project. I bought this a few years ago with the intentions of using it to commute to work, but never got the project finished. It is a 750cc four cylinder with a 2-speeed automatic transmission. It was nice to not have to shift gears while riding, as learning to drive the sidecar kept me plenty busy. There are 21,331 miles on the odometer. Clear New Mexico title. The carburetors were professionally rebuilt by a retired factory-trained Honda technician last year with correct parts and gaskets, but I have let them sit- the bike starts and runs, but takes a little coaxing and plenty of warm-up time. (I haven't ridden it for a few seasons, and then only around the neighborhood.) It has upgraded ignition coils and a new battery. Recently retensioned timing chain. The front end is a hard-to-find Unit Forks setup from England, made specifically for sidecar motorcycles. There is also an adjustable steering dampener. The new tires are also sidecar-specific; they have a squared-off cross section, and are soft and pliable with deep tread. There are four air-adjustable shock absorbers on the motorcycle to change ride height and quality. Windshield mounting lugs are attached to the handlebars by the previous owner, but I never had one on there. The sidecar is a 1982 Czechoslovakian-made Velorex/JAWA unit. It is solidly built, with a steel tube frame, coil-spring, spoke wheel, and drum brake. The body is made of thick fiberglass with black gel-coat, and the upholstery is in great shape! No tears in the vinyl and the foam is still very springy. Plenty of legroom, and there is a steel bar footbrake tied into the frame. The seat back unlocks and removes easily to reveal a secure storage compartment. There are lugs and snaps for a tonneau cover, but I never had one. Taillight lens and outside amber marker light is broken on the sidecar.I have never quite gotten the sidecar properly set up for riding, and I urge the winning buyer to contact a mechanic or shop that has experience in setting up sidecars to ensure the correct attachment and alignment. The bike and sidecar have the usual share of dings, scuffs, scratches, and minor repairs. The paint and body aren't perfect, but it looks pretty good from ten feet and not bad for a fun little grocery-getter. Included in this auction is another Honda CB750A bike for parts (no title) with a traditional fork front end on it and spare gas tank with the correct fuel-level sending unit in it, in case you want to take the sidecar off and convert the motorcycle back to a two-wheeler. Please look at the photos carefully, and bid accordingly. I would be willing to separate the sidecar from the motorcycle and sell it separately if someone wants just one or the other. Although I have tried to describe this as accurately as I could to the best of my abilities, if you have questions please feel free to contact me through Messages or at 72O92l6953 with any questions or if there is something you would like a closer photo of. Payment in full is to be received within 7 days of auction's end via Paypal. If payment is not made within the 7 days it will be relisted. This is a local-pickup item only; I cannot deliver it, but I would be willing to store it for 30 days free of charge. (Please contact me if you feel you will need to store it longer than 30 days. Longer storage can be arranged for an additional fee, but I will not keep it longer than three months.) On Feb-20-17 at 16:44:07 PST, seller added the following information: *It has come to my attention that the photos do not zoom, and get somewhat grainy on larger screens. 'Bay won't let me remove the photos and replace them, so I added as many new pics as I am allowed. There are five more of the motorcycle and sidecar setup, as well as one of the parts bike. I am happy to send an album of the clearer photos of many other angles, just text your e mail to the above number and I will send them post-haste. Thanks for looking and good luck!
