We are very interested in any photos, video, articles, or memories that you may have. “This 1957 Chevrolet Sedan was built to race as B/Gas and B/Gas Supercharged drag car in 1962 by a mechanic at Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago, Illinois. ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ raced at U.S.30 Drag strip and many other mid-western tracks along with the well known ‘Shake, Rattle and Run’ '57, a car also associated with Nickey Chevrolet. The car was orange in those days. “The earliest paperwork we have is a copy of the title, dated 1971, in the name of Edward Nicholas Sciacca from Berwyn, IL. Ed purchased the car through Legendary Car Builder and Racer, Ronny Kaplan in 1968. It was found at a gas station at 110th and Halstad in Chicago, IL. The name of ‘the mechanic’ from Nickey has been lost to time. Ed raced the car with dark red paint from 1968 through 1970. the car was then in storage for 35 years. Ed sold the car, refinished in Hugger Orange to collector Ralph Thomas, BAT Competition Museum, of Highlands N.C. in 2005. The car sold again to gasser enthusiast Larry Small of Stuarts Draft, Virginia in 2008. Larry showed the car and made a few passes at nostalgia events before selling the car to our client, so he could pursue another historic race car.” We have displayed this car in our showroom for the last several years to the delight of old racers and fans from the period, and young folks who have seldom seen one of these legendary quarter mile monsters in person. We would like to see the car in the hands of a collector who will continue to show, and run, this awesome car. We are hoping that older race fans viewing the car might have pictures or memories of this car when it ran. Because of the unique combination of period elements that have obviously been with the car for decades, we hope that further details will emerge. This is often the case when we have offered unique, historic cars in the past. If you belong to a group that might have such photos or history, we would be delighted to reunite them with the car.
