2006 40th Anniversary Hertz Shelby GT-H “Rent-A-Racer” #386, is one of only 500 that were made by Shelby. As stated in the latest 2015 Shelby magazine, "Without the GT-HSuccess, there would have been no GT500 Super Snakes,GT500KR's or GT 1000's". It was the car that put Shelby back inthe Mustang business, says the Shelby team. In 2006 this historic Hertz/Shelby program was the very first for Carroll and Ford after 36 years. Each of these cars were built identical and shipped from the Mustang Plant in Flat Rock, MI., to the Shelby facility in Las Vegas for the “up-fit” to GT-H specifications. This one of a kind 40th Anniversary Shelby GT-H is a 70 year olds’ daily driver who has pampered it and has been proud to show it getting awards and thumbs up. It has a great amount of paperwork and in-depth documentation from Ford Motor Co., Shelby American and Hertz Rental LLC. The information dates back to its April 2006 delivery at Shelby American in Las Vegas, to its rental and it's 2nd private purchase. The sale includes the car's official metal dash plaque with the Shelby CSM number and Carroll Shelby's signature. The one pictured on the Dash is factory applied Sticker. And in addition I am also providing the very rare, rear trunk passenger side, 1966-2006 40th Anniversary metal plaque. This plaque was not normally put on the car due to vandalism by renters. . This early production car was purchased by me from the 1st non Hertz owner-collector in 2010 after my lengthy search to find one that met my criteria of an original, undamaged and unmolested car. The car was professionally painted in 2012 so I could have the Gold stripes painted in, rather than replace the tape. I also had the standard interior upgraded by Shelby and the “promotional” Sirius Satellite receiver mounted to the center console showing the Hertz/Sirius logo is ready to activate. The car was purchased by me with 21xxx miles on it and now has 81,350. The car has not been tracked. Every mile driven has been delightful. Since the Ebay's vehicle rating ownership history incorrectly indicates 4 owners which affects the quality rating given to my car. Hertz owned the vehicle first, it was registered twice by Hertz. The first private owner, a collector, purchased the car from Hertz and in 2010 I purchased the car. I question the lower rating since all owners made sure the car was kept in great shape.
