Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a Super Solid 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof (fastback) optioned with an Automatic Transmission, Power Brakes, and Factory Air Conditioning. This car while needing a full restoration is a Solid Southern Car and would make for a very straight forward restoration. It is well optioned and has a GREAT color combination!! This is an ORIGINAL F-code 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback that spent it's early life in the Northwestern, Louisiana area hailing from the City of Shreveport, Louisiana originally. This car stayed in the south and at some point found it's way to the Atlanta, Ga Area. This car had been a driver for a number of years before being put away and a restoration started on it. The Mustang ended up in the hands of a well intentioned enthusiast who ended up with more projects than he had time or space for. After getting started on the restoration by partially disassembling this car; the reality of things set in; and it was decided that it would be best to bolt it back together and sell off the Mustang to focus on his other projects/priorities. This car is just waiting for the next Mustang enthusiast to come along and finish restoring this car to its former glory!! This car was a Stock Order at Wray Ford Co. in Shreveport, LA. It was ordered in the New Orleans 64 DSO in the visually stunning and very desirable (like the Boss 302's) D-code Grabber Yellow Hue with a matching Black Vinyl Bucket Seat Interior. This Fastback was further spec'd out with an F-code 302-2V, C4 Automatic Transmission, and a 3.00 geared conventional rear end! This '70 Mustang Sportsroof per the Deluxe Marti Report was originally ordered as follows: 302-2V V-8 Engine C4 Automatic Transmission3.00 Geared Conventional RearGrabber Yellow Exterior PaintBlack Vinyl Bucket Seat InteriorE70-14 Wide Oval Belted White Sidewall TiresRocker Panel MoldingsPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesAir ConditioningAM RadioTinted GlassWheel Covers This car is a project car that has been sitting for a number of years. Over the years a few changes have been made and somewhere along the way the Mustang's original powerplant was upgraded to a more powerful 351C-2V engine. This was out of another project car that was too rusty to restore. The engine was rebuilt and has low mileage since being built. The 351 in the Mustang has a set of NEW Hooker Headers on it and an Edelbrock Aluminum Intake Manifold for it. The Transmission is supposed to be a good working unit as well but the car is not running at the moment so I have no way of testing it. The brakes are not functional at this time and will need to be gone through. This is not a driver by any means, but it is a solid project car that could be made to run with a couple weekends worth of work. The car had been repainted over the original Grabber Yellow paint and color changed to some shade of Red before being primered. The body while extremely solid has had some bumps and bruises over the years. At some point the passenger 1/4 was hit and some back woods body guy decided just to throw mud at it rather than hammer and dollying it out. It is a very solid panel with only a small quarter size bit of rust on the lower rear most likely from a clogged drain. The panel just needs a bit of massaging to get it back into shape. Driver 1/4 is very decent but also has a small quarter size bit of rust near where the drain is. This car is a very easy fix for a good body guy. The Battery apron is nice in the car, though it does need a tray. All of the seams on the engine bay aprons are nice and unblistered. This car shows some wear and tear from its years of road duty; but really is not a terrible car to work with. With that said a complete cosmetic resto would be in order. Car really needs to be stripped, straightened, and repainted back to it's original Grabber Yellow color again!! The Body on the Mustang while nowhere near perfect, nor paint ready is a reasonably good platform from which to start with. The Hood, Fenders, and 1/4's are all Super Solid Pieces to work with. The doors and the decklid while needing some attention are good workable pieces. The Floors have been done and the Torque Boxes, Frame Rails, Rockers, Trunk Floors, Drops, Cowl, etc. are super solid on this car. There are many NEW parts included with this car to be used in its restoration. Here is a partial list of the NEW items that come with this car as part of the auction. NEW FUEL TANKNEW FUEL TANK SENDING UNITNEW DOOR GLASSNEW REAR WINDOW MOLDINGSNEW DOOR HANDLESNEW REAR DECK SPOILERNEW BATTERY TRAYNEW FRONT SEAT UPHOLSTERY Undoubtedly you will need some parts and pieces for this car as you restore it, but it is a pretty complete car that is well optioned and a super solid platform to start with!! This car would make a GREAT Boss 302 Tribute car back in it's Original Grabber Yellow color scheme. I will attach a couple of pics of a Boss 302 in Grabber Yellow for reference and I think you will see just what a sexy car this could be!! The Black Bucket Seat Interior is pretty much complete; but needing restoration. It does show it's age; but most all of the pieces seem to be good serviceable/restorable pieces. The car was originally equipped with 14 inch Steel wheels which I have for it, It is shown with an original set of Ford 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels; that are for photographic purposes only and NOT included with this auction. This car will be delivered with the original 14 inch Steel Wheels with trim rings and caps back on it. I do have another set of Magnum 500 wheels and tires for the car available at extra cost should the winning bidder decide that they want Magnums on the car. I also have a RARE and Complete Shaker Hood Assembly available for the car at additional cost that I will make available to the winning bidder if interested. I will add a picture of the car with the Shaker hood on it; but again it is NOT included as part of the auction. Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a nearly 50 year old project car that has been around the block and knocked around a bit needing complete restoration to include body work, mechanical work, and cosmetic reconditioning. Overall this is a very decent 1970 Mustang Fastback that is a solid restoration candidate. There are lots of picked over, rusted out carcasses out there; but decent do-able cars such as this that are not rusted to death don't come along very often. This car is registered and insured in my name and is ready for transfer. If you have been looking for a Solid Mustang Fastback to restore then don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be some time before another solid resto project such as this comes along again! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the 70 Mustang Sportsroof's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback is a nearly 50 year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1970 Mustang Fastback project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully to make sure this is what you want before bidding. Please do not assume anything, ask a question! If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
