Vehicle Detail
Very Rare. 1964 Factory RE 327 365 horsepower, original two top Corvette convertible. Saddle tan with tan interior. This Corvette still has the Original Paint, other than where it has been touched up on over the years. Paint has chips and checking, which is typical in old lacqer paint. Still shows well and looks cool, with a lot of character. Factory hard top also still retains the original saddle tan paint. Bonding strips visible and present. Head lamps work as they should. All original glass. All original interior with the exception of the seat covers. Other than that, the interior is as it was. Floor mats original. Carpet shows wear spots typical places. Dash pad is in really good condition with no cracks. Door panels are in good shape. Gauges are really nice too. High horsepower tachometer. Speedometer and tachometer are a little out of calibration but work. Tachometer red lines at 6500 rpm. The ORIGINAL matching number engine, the ultra rare K63, 3782870 RE 327 365 horse solid lifter engine. Runs great, very fast. Holds good oil pressure. Large harmonic balancer. Rear end is a 3.73 to 1 gear ratio. Still has original alternater, K63 Overflow tank, K63 Starter, Radiator, also born with factory components. Matching number and original transmission. Chalk mark from factory still on the radiator, as can see in the pictures. Glue in the weatherstripping in the door jambs is still exact "sloppy factory.", see pictures. Further indication of original paint. Chassis; Never been undercoated. Still has the original unpainted fiberglass floorboards and chassis. No rust, typical scale. Unpainted tire tub. The car was purchased new from Jim White Chevrolet in Toledo, Ohio in 1964. The shipping data report, (SDR), is Jim White, Toledo Ohio, Dealer Zone 44, Dealer Code 528. It was resold in Napoleon, Ohio at Snyder Chevrolet, when it was purchased in 1968, and sold to the family from which I purchased the car in 2005. This Corvette has some brief late 1960's racing history. It was raced in the drag strips in the Toledo, Ohio area. It ran 128 miles an hour through the quarter mile. The family who purchased the car in 1968 set up the car for racing with the current headers and side pipes, and competition gear shift, and mag wheels. It has been this way since 1968. I have the stock manifolds, and original shifter lever and linkage if someone wants to put it back stock. That said, it is an attention getter the way it is. I have some paperwork and items that go with the car, to include the dealership's Jim White Chevrolet patch, the original Jim White Chevrolet key chain from the dealership, the original owners manual. The early Corvette owners club patch and lapel pin. Jim White Chevrolet match book cover. I believe some of these items were given to the new Corvette owners from the dealers back in the day. More of the car's history. I bought the Corvette when I lived in Florida in the mid 2000's. I sold it to an individual in Washington State, where it remained until about a year ago. I saw it was for sale again, and I knew firsthand what an original survivor it was, and I bought it back again. This IS the real deal... These rare high horsepower original, (as in the original paint AND engine), unrestored "survivors" are very scarce. In my opinion this is as cool as an original old Cobra, for a smidgen of the price. Always gets a lot of attention anytime we take it out. Primarily because it is so authentic, and not one of the over restored cars that are everywhere.
